I'm wondering what computer program (if any) wedding planners use to create a floor layout for their events? We are planning a fairly large wedding at a country club, and it's the first one we've done that requires a lot of moving furniture, rearranging tables, and choosing locations for stations and about a million other things. :) I'm drawing it out, but would like to make a nice computer model for my bride. Has anyone done this? Any pointers? Thanks in advance!
One suggestion is a magnet board with moveable peices. It will allow you sit down with the bride and groom and shuffle stuff around to their hearts content. I seem to recall a couple of programs mainly used by commercial office space designers that would suit your purpose but they have a pretty steep learning curve.
I like to use www.perfecttableplan.com/ You buy the license once for $30 and then can use it as many times as you want. This is only for layouts/ guest counts, not as much to offer as I Do Weddings. Hope this helps!
I have used Google Sketchup and love it. We used it at home before deciding which furniture to buy and to play with remodel ideas for our house. It would easily work for a room layout.
