Debra, Sorry for the delay in answering.  I have been on vacation in South Dakota.  Anyway, the hair swirls are very easy to use.  They are mounted on a corkscrew wire that twists into the hair until you only see the pearl, rhinestone, star, etc.  When finished wearing them you twist them in the opposite direction and they will come right out.  I hope this helps.  Debbie
