3 Tips to Make Sure You Don’t Confuse Brides

Dear Wedding Professional:

After sending out hundreds of direct mail campaigns when I was a Marketing Manager at American Express, I learned that giving consumers too many choices decreases their likelihood to respond to marketing.  Yes, people like choices.  But in marketing, too many choices usually just leads to confusion.  Talking about too many features, options, and services will overwhelm brides.

The bottom line is - when brides are confused, they will say ‘no’.

You need to make things simple for brides.  Your marketing needs to help and guide brides to come to one simple conclusion.  Here are some tips to help brides focus on one really good idea – you!

  1. Share your one purpose.  Find your story and your philosophies.  Make that the single-minded focus of your message.  Use this to communicate that buying from you is a very good decision.
  2. Communicate one difference.  Most of your competitors are saying the same thing.  Be different.  Grab attention but making it crystal clear why you and your services are different.
  3. Present them with one decision.  Tell brides why you are the best option.  Next, tell them how they can get the best option.

What tips can you share about creating simple marketing messages for brides? Please comment below.

Thank you again for making this a fun and supportive wedding community,
