A little about yourself and what you have to offer this wedding community?: Charmaine Mischel's unique and stunning custom gowns are the product of the more than twenty years she has spent pursuing her sense of exquisite style in the fashion industry. As a designer for several New York City design houses for eleven years, Ms. Mischel nurtured her unique aesthetic vision and deepened her design repertoire with bi-annual visits to Paris. The luscious fabric collections she encountered at Premier Vision only fueled her desire to express her vision of beauty through design -- a desire that would only achieve its highest expression through the design of couture! Ms. Mischel developed a rapport with the finest European fabric houses, and these are instrumental in her seasonal fabric selections to this day.
After more than a decade of design in Manhattan and Europe, Ms. Mischel focused her energies on designing one-of-a-kind gowns for specialty boutiques on Long Island, New York. Her growing and loyal clientele encouraged her to venture out on her own, and so was born the Charmaine Mischel Couture line, in 2003.
Ms. Mischel well remembers the "matching" dresses her mother would whip together for her and her two sisters each Easter. Each of the near-identical dresses had a special twist that set it apart from the others, and made each dress -- and each little girl -- special. Perhaps it was that early recognition of the power of a beautiful dress to shape a young girl's sense of herself that inspired Ms. Mischel's to try to bring that same magic to each of her custom designed gowns. One thing is certain: her mother's dedication and her delight in the creative process imbued in Ms. Mischel a strong work ethic and a passion to create that continues to drive her fashion and her business to new heights. Combining her love for luxurious fabrics and fine craftsmanship, Ms. Mischel creates custom designed gowns that express each exclusive client's individuality and envelopes her in the resplendent beauty of exquisite style, detailed to perfection.
