10 Unique Wedding Bouquet Ideas for the DIY Bride

Traditionally, brides hold a bouquet of her favorite blooms as she walks down the aisle, which she later throws to a group of unwed ladies attending her wedding to predict the next bride. Much like wedding dresses, these bouquets have seen thousands of variations from the flowers used, to the arrangement, and even the accessories that adorn it. In recent years, however, there have been an increasing interest in non-floral bridal bouquets as brides opt for more unconventional weddings.

While floral bouquets are classic, non-floral ones are gaining increased populatrity

Here are ten unique wedding bouquet ideas that may make you opt for non-floral arrangements for your own bouquet:

1. Sea shells and starfishes
Perfect for a beach wedding, you can have this made out of the shells that you and your partner have collected over time on your many romantic strolls on your favorite beach.

2. Pearls and Buttons
Pearls are a necessity for any vintage-style wedding. Mix them up with some fabric flowers and buttons to make a truly sophisticated bouquet that will make you feel even more elegant on your wedding day.

3. Book pages
If you and your partner are both book-lovers, or if books played a huge part in how your relationship started and flourished over the years, then incorporating them into your bridal bouquet is a great idea. Create rolled-up flowers out of the pages of your favorite book and walk down the aisle in book-loving style.

4. Origami shapes
The good thing about origami is that you can make practically any shape you want out of mere slips of paper. Let your creative side come out and create a bouquet of origami flowers, butterflies, cranes, or even pinwheels to keep the wedding vibe festive and light-hearted.

5. Feathers
Feathers were huge in the 1920s, so if you somehow made The Great Gatsby as the theme for your special day, then a feather bouquet would capture that vibe wonderfully. Not to mention that a feather bouquet would be a dream to hold for its sheer light weight.

6. Fabric
Fabric that’s tightly woven into cloth rosettes make for a delicate bouquet when adorned with pearl or crystal accents and lace. This is one stunning bouquet that you can keep for a long time.

7. Cotton
You don’t normally think of cotton for bouquets, but they are just perfect for cozy, outdoor weddings with a rustic feel. Mix cotton burrs up with some poppy and echinops, and you have yourself an awesome bridal bouquet!

8. Brooches
You’d need plenty of brooches (and probably some silver jewelry charms from Teeda for luck and meaning) to make a bouquet to take down the aisle, but that shouldn’t be a problem as they can easily be purchased from a trusted wholesale silver jewelry retailer. Add in any brooch that you may already have that holds significant meaning, and you’ve got yourself a sparkly brooch bouquet that just looks so lovely when gathered together.

9. Yarn balls
Yarn balls don’t have to be limited to venue or party favor decorations, and in fact, are perfect in a bouquet for the crafty bride.

10. Candies
Using candies in a bouquet is an incredibly delicious idea. The best part? You’re carrying something that you can easily eat (secretly) if you ever get hungry during the ceremony.

Bouquets don’t have to be the freshest flowers in season. Why not take a unique and personalized approach with your bridal bouquet and turn it even more special?
