4 Things You Need to Plan Well Ahead of Your Wedding

If you are newly-engaged and starting to think about planning your wedding then first of all I would like to take a second to say ‘CONGRATULATIONS’. This is the beginning of an amazing journey for you, and you are going to absolutely love married life. But first of all, you have a wedding to plan…

Wedding planning may sound like fun, however it is also incredibly stressful for those that don’t really know what they are doing. There are so many things involved in wedding planning that brides and groom to be and often get overwhelmed. This is why is it is vital for those planning their weddings to do so slowly, one step at a time, so that nothing is left until the last minute – Reducing the chances of mistakes being made.

With this in mind it is important that those getting married start planning as far in advance as possible. If you are unsure where you need to start do not worry – Today I am here to inform you of some of the things that you need to do in plenty of advance if you are looking for everything to go smoothly, which no doubt you are.

Here are the four main things that I think couples getting married should plan first:

  1. Set the venue, set the date. The venue and date for your wedding are two of the most important wedding decisions that you will make, therefore they are the things that you will have to put the most thought into. Popular wedding venues get booked up incredibly quickly with couples booking them at their earliest opportunity; therefore you must follow suite. Remember that weekend dates often get booked up first so if you want a weekend wedding you will have to book even earlier. Once you have set your date and chosen your venue you can then send out your save the date wedding invitations so that as many invitees as possible can attend.
  2. Book the photographer. Photographers also get booked up quickly so it can be a really good idea to start looking for the right one for you as soon as possible. Once you have found a photographer that you think you have fallen in love with, it can be a great idea to organise an engagement photoshoot so that you can get to know them and they can get to know you and what you are looking for in your wedding photos.
  3. Travel in style. You need to book your wedding transport too. There are many different options to choose from when it comes to wedding transport, from horse and carriage to luxurious motors. Start to research your options early and make some enquiries today to guarantee your number one choice.
  4. The second proposal. And by this I do not mean that you have to get engaged all over again. This is time for the bride to propose to her bridesmaid and the groom to propose to his best man etc. Sit down and write a list of all of the people that you would like to play a role in your wedding and let them know as soon as possible – There are special cards available for this!

Of course there are many other things that you need to do in advance, these are just a few things to get you started and to get the ball rolling. Once these things are organised, you will find it much easier to make other decisions.

For me it was all about the place. We had our wedding in Australia and we had our heart set on finding the perfect selection of garden wedding venues in Sydney, and after we have compiled a lit we visited them all to find our ideal one. When we had that pinned down the whole wedding planning process just fell in place. So for me the venue was the essential part.
