Creative Aesthetics: Unique Ideas for Wedding Venues

Weddings and photography go hand in hand. Sometimes the best place to be photographed can also be the best place to be married. There are many regularly used backdrops such as the beach, grand parks or landmarks, famous buildings or estates, and there have even been some ceremonies performed in air balloons. Here are some more unique ideas for wedding venues that just happen to have built-in creative aesthetics.

Your Favorite Restaurant May Stage Your Event

Restaurants are an obvious choice for their familiarity, unique décor and the already established details such as the liquor license and liability insurance. Many restaurants provide wedding events as an extension of their catering services as everything is already in place.

In the same vein, stages for the performing arts or amphitheaters already have seats, an aisle to walk down and a center stage that can be elaborately designed. Think of it as your own play on the beginning of your new life. Theaters likely already have the bar and refreshment accommodations in place. Just be sure to time your event when it does not interfere with the busy summer season perhaps scheduling a fall or autumn event.

Linking the Past, Present and Future

Along the same lines, there are antique stores that offer the perfect eclectic arrangements of various pieces rich with their fine hand crafting and materials no longer used in creating home furnishings. Having that tie to the old with the new and the possibility of floor-to-ceiling décor in situ presents yet another way to honor tradition and respect the values of the past while embarking on your own future. Whether leather or lace, the vintage atmosphere is inspiring.

Libraries—The Closest Thing to a Church

In any given city you will find the aesthetic sanctity of public libraries a marvelous choice for taking your vows. Many of these buildings have achieved iconic status with their sprawling grounds, grand interiors and stunning architectural features. You certainly don’t need to be bibliophile to make the most of a repository for the greatest novels of all time, but if you do have a liking for a certain tome, you could decide to make the era captured in the pages the theme for your event.

Similarly, museums have been a classical choice as are conservatories, natural history, children’s and air and space museums. There are countless exhibits already in place that provide remarkable backdrops, and these locations likely have after-hours rental spaces and agreements. You may even find staff is provided for guided tours if not open for guests to explore the exhibits during the pre-event cocktail hour.

Embracing the Atmosphere

In the great outdoors, there is much to consider when contemplating the perfect place to make a memory that lasts a lifetime. While just about any place you can imagine visiting for a spiritual or breathtaking experience makes sense as a venue for your wedding and reception, consider there are special permissions you may have to pre-arrange such as permits, insurance binders and the liquor license. There may be more legal issues to contemplate depending on the location and the legal restrictions that exist. For example, a wedding pool party most likely requires pool fencing to protect guests during the event.

Here are some more ideas that have been used for weddings due to their naturally creative aesthetics:

  • Treehouses
  • Orchards
  • Tree Farms
  • Botanical Gardens
  • City, State or National Parks
  • Vineyards
  • Zoos
  • Theme Parks
  • Aquariums
  • Onboard a Boat or a Yacht
  • Ice Caves
  • Converted Buildings
  • Castles and Palaces

Weddings have gone underground in caves, underwater, on a mountain or even up in the air. It could be said when it comes to where you take your vows, the sky is the limit. Pretty soon, we will find people taking their vows in outer space. Where ever and however you take your vows, the point is to make the event specific to your desires and special to the making of a memory. Plan ahead, arrange all the logistics, ensure the safety of all your attendees and enjoy your special day.
