Up until one year ago, we were completely in the dark about this captivating deep wine and lavender bloom. As a florist of 13+ years, it is my job to know ALL about stunning beauties such as this dramatic Scabiosa named the Black Knight. After running across it one day at a small farmers market in Washington, I was enamored, and, as it appears, I am not the only one. This romantic little bloom has been popping up in the most famous of markets in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle and around the globe.
The almost black hue of this little pin cushioned shaped bloom is seductive, regal, romantic and completely different than any other bloom. For these reasons, to name only a few, this bloom is going to be the next “it” wedding bloom of 2011. The Black Knight pairs well with any light, pastel bloom because the contrast it creates makes for stunning photos. Also, this bloom pairs brilliantly with blackberries and Black Forest Calla Lilys, two other top picks for the upcoming 2011 wedding season.
