Black is back with a bang!

Your San Antonio Wedding and Bridal Consultants plan weddings to perfection much to the contentment of their brides and grooms. Our wedding expert Ansonya Burke is wrapping up the year with the HOTs and NOTs of Year 2011 in the wedding industry!

It was an amazing year that I had at Principles in Action being a Wedding Planner to the most beautiful couples. While I was trying my best to dip in a bit of latest fad for my wedding inspirations, I found some to be highly peculiar and as they say not at all bridal-friendly!

2011 was a busy year for wedding gurus. While the Kardashian wedding made headlines with her wedding of 72 days, Sinead O’ Connor gave Kim a clean sweep by announcing her own annulment 16 days after the wedding!

Phew, now that’s a lot of annulments, and I’m not here to discuss them. What I’d like to share with my dear readers is the trend that we’re soon to see in year 2012 weddings. Although it had created a great big stir when first revealed in October of this year, the ripples are sure to reach year 2012 with a bang.

Vera Wang’s controversial collection of Black Wedding Dresses indeed made headlines that very moment the world was given a first look. But it wasn’t the first time black wedding dresses made an appearance to the wedding industry. The trend has been there, but a bit hush-hush. Now people are slowly warming up towards the darkest hue and adding the color to their wedding attire.

While some brides still believe it superstitious to wear anything but the white at weddings, I wonder how they allow their grooms to don black that day? Surely if black was considered ominous, so many grooms wouldn’t consider it a color for their wedding attire.

However, the question is, should you go all black? Well, not necessarily. You can accessorize your white dress with a black ornament or vice versa. For black, silver and gold embellishment really stand out. So why not opt to wear a white, silver or gold belt around the waist; for a black wedding gown, that’s sure to add a nice elegant touch.

In addition you can opt for a black lace appliqué on the neckline, or preferably at the hem of the dress to create a chic edge to it. The benefit of wearing black is you can match any color with it. Play around with pink, red and even green!

Though you are advised not to play it too hard and wear neon with it (unless you’re having a Retro themed wedding). Give tradition a little back seat this year, and employ these breathtaking modern ideas. While vintage remains one of my favorites here at Principles at Action, I really can’t help but notice how black would be an apt alternate to traditional white.

As they say, black is slowly becoming the new white… so I ask you this, would you wear black on your wedding?

These dresses are beautiful! As more and more people are breaking the traditionally accepted things in weddings it is no surprise that dresses like this are available. Very nice!
