5 Mistakes You Can’t Afford on your Wedding Day

Every bride who’s already had her big day will tell you that, regardless of all the small glitches and even unexpected turns of events, it was still the most magical day of her life. Well, this one goes for all the brides-to-be. The best possible way to avoid these glitches and have a day as magical as you always envisioned it would be is to listen to all the married ladies who certainly have gathered a few pearls of wisdom while planning their own wedding. To that end, we have created the list of the most common mistakes, so you don’t have to go through the same ordeal as some of us did.

I’m not hungry now

It’s understandable, given all the stress and the ‘good jitters’ that you won’t feel even a bit hungry and will refuse to take even a bite, no matter how many people offer you food prior to the ceremony and the reception. Well, this is a huge mistake, because once the ceremony is over and the festivities commence, you will realize that you are suddenly famished, but there will be zero time and opportunity for you to grab a decent bite. Something will always get in the way between you and food – people will want to take photos, you will be asked to dance as soon as you are spotted, there will be toasts, cutting the cake, and before you know it, the party is over and you’re starving. You need the energy to get you through the day, so make sure to eat and eat well before the ‘madness’ takes over. Don’t worry, you’ll still look amazing in your wedding dress. You can’t suddenly gain weight after one meal.

I’ll think about it tomorrow

Perhaps it’s all the YouTube makeup tutorials that we have to blame for this particular mistake, but it’s one frequently made. Of course, we’re talking about not booking a makeup-rehearsal session with your makeup artist, or even doing it days before if you’re going at it alone. You don’t want any surprises in the makeup department, so always try a look before you commit to it. Also, don’t experiment with new and unfamiliar makeup products. Stick with quality brands, particularly when it comes to essential products like a lightweight concealer, foundation and eyeshadow. Stick to high-end and tried and approved makeup you know works for you, and you’ll be all set.

But they’re so beautiful

You’ve probably already chosen your perfect Cinderella shoes and you can’t wait to show them to the world. Still, we all know that even the best of heels take a toll on the feet after a while, especially when you’re the star who’s always on the move. This is why it’s essential that you have a pair of backup flats that will provide an enormous amount of relief. This is your day, and you don’t want to spend it with aching and hurting feet trying to smile the pain away. You want to dance and relish every moment, and flats will allow you to do that and still look ravishing and chic.

I can do it all

On this day, it’s not your job to worry about the final details, this is supposed to be a day of pure bliss. This is why you need to suppress the urge to micromanage everyone and learn to delegate. Pick your key people – made of honor, mom, good friends, your party planners to take care of the final touches and be on top of things should a glitch appear. You can’t be a bridal beauty and still run around stressing over everything. Choose your people wisely and learn to let things go.

Not taking it all in

You’ve planned for months and months, so now it’s your time to chill and take it all in. Don’t have that out of body experience where you just observe everything but don’t actually experiences. Your hard work is done, so make it all worth it by enjoying every single moment, even the ones that are unplanned. After all, you plan on doing this only once, so make sure you do it right.
