In a world of give and take it is hard to find good options for getting your name out there without having to pay a lot of money. This is especially hard when you are just starting out. We are a small company and doing all we can by word of mouth and our friends. We also have our website, and craigslist (which can look so cheap), and we now Bridal Tweet (yay!). But just wondering if anyone had any other good suggestions for two eager wedding videographers and a photographer trying to get some gigs and their name out there?

In about 2 months, I went from not to be found on Google Search to page one.  I put my profile on every group site that would let me do it for free.  I now get 80% plus business from my website and blog.  Am in the process of putting my web site and blog together.  One suggestion on your website, make it a site you would like to follow, like not much scrolling, fun to look at, easy to nagivate, etc.

I am interested as well, as I spend so much time and marketing for my shop.  I have a few social networks like Facebook and Twitter, that work well.  Have you tried buy and sell classified? Also become a member of Linked in, great network and individuals in the professional fields.

I have been a wedding photographer for over 20 years and I find that the best way to get your name out there is still personal referrals. Also have a good website that is easily searchable and represents your company well. Network with other wedding vendors and refer each other. This is how I get most of my weddings. Find ways to help each other in your related businesses. For example I send photos at no charge to wedding venues that I have taken that they could use to promote their location, and they are happy to refer me in return. I also like to network with the "competition". When I am booked for a date, I refer other photographers who in turn refer me when they are booked. Making a connection with another business owner helps both businesses and also an opportunity for new friendships.
I like this thread.  We have used similiar strategies and been successfull booking gigs.  we have been performing at weddings for the past 30 years.  We have a blog at CAISO SteelDrumBand .  We are using social media and blogging to stay connected with brides, wedding/event planners.  We also pass on gigs to other bands if we are booked.  The only thing is that we have lost some contacts when we pass on a gig to another band.  Pass on a gig to another person/group you know can do a good job. 
If you have a google analytics account you can see where the traffic is coming from.In my case the percentage shows that in order from top to bottom is google,facebook,twitter,email and blogs. On the direct traffic and on the referring sites,mostly blogs,so that displays where our money should be put.If you have a website I encourage you to get a google analytics,it is free and you can see all details even by the hour.
As a photographer, have you tried taking pics of the venues, flowers and any other vendors work and then sending them the pics.  If they're happy, then maybe they'll refer others to you?  I read somewhere that there's  a celebrity wedding photographer that got his start that way.

This  has been such a fabulous post.  I loved the video from David Jay submitted by Crystal, Thank you Caryn for the very thorough list and Thank you Royal Romance for the warning.  I've made a note of it for the future.  One thing that has not been mentioned is asking your clients to go on Google, Facebook, Weddingwire, and many others and ask for testimonials.  I have those posts on my testimonial page too but have many clients telling me "they couldn't find anything less than a 5 stars for me-and they looked".  I was soooo happy.  I also go to the Perfect Wedding Guide luncheons in Philadelphia.  I meet lots of wonderful vendors and am starting to see results.  You need to give it time so they can get to know you.  Befriend your new contacts on Facebook too.  FYI...the luncheon for Perfect Wedding Guide is $25 for advertisers and $35 for non-advertisers.  I like it being open to non-advertisers and find the fee well worth it.
