As a Wedding Planner how did you get your first client?

For all the wedding planners out there how did you get your first client?

I have been doing wedding planning for 6years but as a freelance now I have started my own business and it's actually a bit harder than it was before.I am now IWPP (International Wedding Planning Profession) qualified which allows me to travel internationally to plan weddings which is an exciting adventure itself.

What tips will you give the new wedding planners out there to get there first client and become a reputable wedding planner.

I have the same certification and you have alot to look forward to it's very rewarding. I would advise studying under a seasoned planner to get your feet wet. For me my first client came from my corporate experience.

Congratulation on the same certification and I am looking forward to it.

I have been looking for planners to work under and learn a bit more and network with people but many planners are working alone and don't really want an 'assistant' I've also looked internationally but because I'm in London many have said well it's a hassle when they can get someone from their country.

I haven't let this put me down but I do wish I get a client soon. I'm doing two weddings now; one my sisters and one my uncles.
