Oh, and maybe some marketing ideas too! Possibly where you all are getting the most bridal traffic! It's nice to be on a website that's not all about competition!!

Pat and Dina,

Thank you very much for your ideas...I think it's great! And you are both aboslutely right. So now I will join in on the conversations, instead of just getting good ideas from them!!

I'm just starting my business, and any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

You know, it seems clear that we all love BT and want to see it grow quickly. It's already a valuable resource for brides and vendors.

What struck me most about this conversation are two ideas: 1) brides want to know who YOU are, not simply what your business does. It makes sense to share your POV and personality here because, ultimately, a bride is trusting you with a milestone event. She can't choose you if she doesn't know you.

And, 2) you gotta bring something to the party. Ask yourself what have I done for someone here to educate or lighten their load? If we want to be a real and engaged community, not just a collection of 'choose me' posts, we need to know each other and work for the good of all. You know, raise the level for all boats.

I've added articles from time to time and originally felt a little awkward about doing it. But I realized it's more important to share helpful stuff than worry about being embarrassed. Sure enough, readers let me know they appreciated it. So, if you're holding back, now is the time to really get involved.

(stepping quickly off my soapbox) Thanks for listening.

tabletopcelebrations idea of a Bridal Open House is similar to the Fall Open House we are considering. It would give local vendors the opportunity to meet each other while meeting potential wedding couples.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have absolutely no complaints about this website...as a matter of fact I LOVE IT!!! I find myself spending much of my day on it right now. I know it's a new website, and I have recommended many vendors and brides to become members. My original question was just out of curiousity!!

I'm thinking of partnering with others in my area and Offering a Bridal Shower Open House of services. It will a mini Bridal Show with limited vendors. Each vendor will provide a gift for a drawing to be given away at the Shower. There will be food, favors, and fun for all...just like a real Bridal Shower!

What are your thoughts? Anyone tried something similar?

I am a new business and there are days that I find it frustrating as well. I have sold a few things in my store but have yet to book a wedding. I am so glad that there is a place to share and get advice. I just keep moving forward the best I can.
