I think this is strictly a US custom. We don't have them in the UK which is a real shame,the grooms cakes I have seen are usually very creative,just the sort of thing I love designing.

it was fun to design the groom's cakes i did. they are so different than a wedding cake. i haven't done many but i'd love to do more!
