While all surviving traces of Ogham are inscriptions on stone, it was probably inscribed on sticks, stakes and trees. Inscriptions generally take the form of somebody's name and the name of a place and were likely used to mark boundaries.

The existing examples of Ogham are on large standing stones. There are almost 400 known Ogham inscriptions in Ireland.

Why BORU?|

After two centuries of Viking domination, Brian Boru became the last High King of all Ireland in 1002. His patriotism and personal sacrifice brought warring clans together, under one king, for the only time in Irish history.

This was a time of unsurpassed glory, prosperity and happiness. Boru earned his name as Brian of the Tributes’ by collecting monies from the Chieftains of Ireland and using it to restore monasteries and places of learning that had been destroyed during the invasions. Capable and energetic, Brian Boru established himself as a patron of the arts and learning, and presided over a period of great craftsmanship of jewelry, incredible manuscripts and intricate stone masonry.

Brian Boru ruled until 1014, when he died during the successful defense of Ireland against Norse invaders during the Battle of Clontarf in Dublin.

Inspired by Ireland’s last great king, and with a desire to replicate the values, heritage, skills and craftsmanship that go into making exquisite handmade Celtic jewelry, Boru named themselves after the King. Boru continues to create pieces of jewelry that are handcrafted in Ireland, beautiful in design and of the finest quality.

Boru Jewelry produces its range of jewelry in all precious metals, 10k, 14k, 14k white, 18k, 18k white, platinum and Sterling Silver.

The word "Rune" means "secret wisdom" or "mystery". The runic alphabet is comprised of a 24 rune sequence, like the alphabet, that is known as the futhark. Like other phonetics based alphabets, each rune represents an idea and a sound, making them useful to spell out words. Though most experts believe their creation occurred sometime in the first century A.D., there are some who believe runes were first used as early as 200 B.C.

In Norse mythology, it was believed that Odin, the ruler of the gods, discovered runes. It was a widely accepted belief that Odin gave the gift of runes to the people. However, others believe that while Odin did discover the runes, it was actually Heimdall, god of light and guardian of the entrance to Asgard, that taught runes to the people.

Runes were engraved into all manner of material as a way to pass on messages and wisdom, the casting of magical spells and creation of charms, and for use in divination. Often, the entire runic alphabet was inscribed into items such as stones, swords, and amulets. Other times, only specific runes were chosen, as if to bring about desired qualities, such as strength, wealth, and protection.

As the runic alphabet changed and evolved through different civilizations over time, their use became limited to the creation of magical spells and uses of divination. In the 17th century, rune use was banned as Christianity and the Church took over most European nations. Although most magical meanings of runes and their uses were lost as the masters of the art went into hiding and were executed, the runic alphabet remains intact.

In the 1980s, neopaganism and esoteric interests brought with them a renewed interest in the runes as well. The interest was mainly in the use of runes for divination purposes and in the use of creating rituals, charms, and spells.

Today, the use of runes is becoming more mainstream in the basic literate interests of the runic alphabet and rune meanings for communication and messaging purposes. Runes can be engraved on any matter of material and may be prized due to their interest or secret meanings.

One popular method of rune use is to engrave secret messages on wedding rings. By using runes, messages of those pertaining to love and devotion are a type of secret code, known only to the bride and groom, and those with whom they share the information. Runes can be assembled to spell out names, promises, wishes, hopes, or charms. Whatever you wish to have spelled out, say it in runes.

For those looking for that special set of wedding rings or couples rings, consider having your special message engraved in runes on a matching set of Rune titanium rings.

Purchasing a wedding ring is always exciting and special. You and your beloved are ready to tie the knot and begin a new chapter of your lives together, it is important to purchase a ring that represents the bond that you two share. Rarely do shoppers expect to shop for a wedding ring according to another serious consideration: allergies. All rings are made with certain types of metal, but what many people do not realize is that they may have an allergic reaction to the metal they choose for their jewelry. Though rare, allergic reactions are not entirely uncommon with jewelry, but the last thing that many people expect with their wedding rings is to develop a rash underneath their skin, especially if they invest in certain alloys.

The effect that so many people unwittingly experience is known as wedding ring rash or wedding ring dermatitis. It is a relatively common skin condition that develops on the surface of the skin underneath a ring. Anybody can develop it and it can develop at any time, but those who have a history of allergies or sensitive skin are particularly prone to the rash. The rash typically results from an allergy to nickel in the ring itself. If wearers are not allergic to nickel, it is still possible to develop the rash while wearing the ring due to soap scum and other debris collecting underneath the band.

The way in which the rash manifests varies for all wearers. Sometimes the rash may appear a week or two after you put the ring on. Sometimes the rash might not even show up until several years of wearing. A small red patch may begin to form underneath the ring on top of the skin as a first warning sign of the damage. The rash may come and go spontaneously, but it may later become constantly present, especially if you do not remove the ring.

Almost all 14 to 18 karat gold jewelry has components of nickel present to harden the gold. Nickel is one of the most common allergies that people can have, and many people are not even aware that they are allergic to the metal until they come in contact with the jewelry. Nickel is a common component of many metal items and alloys. If you are not sure whether you are allergic to nickel or not, you can find out by speaking with a professional and having a simple test performed.

Alleviating nickel allergies varies according to different treatment options, but you should always practice safe maintenance and wear to make sure that you do not damage your skin from wearing the ring. Remember to take your ring off every now and then to allow your skin to breathe. Sometimes even just wearing the ring on a different finger can be enough to help you remember where it is while allowing your ring finger to breathe. Remove the ring, wash your finger as you normally would, and then dry your hands before replacing the ring. Make sure your finger is completely dry before wearing again, as water may lead to harmful rash effects.

Most cases of wedding ring rash are easy to treat. Medical professionals may ask that you avoid wearing the rings for too long, and they may prescribe topical cortisone creams to soothe the skin. Applying a clear coat of nail polish to the wedding ring may also help prevent harmful effects by creating a barrier between the ring and the point of contact with the skin.

There are some nickel free options including nickel-free gold, platinum, palladium, titanium or black zirconium.
