The Perfect Surf Wedding

Costa Rica has been a top destination for surfers from around the world for several decades. Ever since Tamarindo beach and Witches Rock were featured in Endless Summer II, surfers have been flocking to Costa Rica’s shores in search of amazing warm water surfing. The relatively small country offers amazing diversity with shores on the Caribbean as well as the Pacific. Since there are no private beaches in Costa Rica, it is a total haven for… Continue

Seasonal Minister

In June of 1994 I was ordained as an Interfaith Minister in the great Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. It was a very hot and humid day. The weather leading up until then had been lovely. The sky was clear blue and the air was fresh and clear. A couple of days before the weather turned quickly and a front loaded up and the humid was unbearable.

This is New York City weather in the Summer. You never know if you need a wrap or a strapless dress. Such is life. It… Continue

5 New Wedding Trends for 2010

More brides are engaged in the winter months from Christmas to Valentine’s Day than any other time of the year. This makes way for a wonderful spring season filled with weddings. To stay ahead of the wedding planning curve I have created a useful list of the 5 hottest trends for weddings in 2010:

Blogging Brides

Whether they are written to make wedding announcements or document the brides planning progress, now more than ever brides are starting their own blogs. When… Continue

BRIDES are like my BOOM BOOM POW!

Since I created my BRIDAL PARTY design, most of my sales have been from BRIDES, GROOMS and BRIDESMAIDS! Brides are so much fun because they want their WEDDING EXPERIENCE to be as special and unique as possible. I pretty much stumbled upon the wedding market and delightfully have found that the season never really ends.

These glasses pictured were from a wedding of friends of mine. Their wedding colors were a deep purple and black for an… Continue

Think ahead for your wedding..

As a wedding/social occasion boutique owner, I can't emphasize more that you need to think ahead for your wedding. Be realistic .. and not be the "Bridezilla" in what you want to wear..mom's too!! Prepare your budget ahead of time, color scheme..some colors are not going to be available..so you will "need to come out of the box" and be flexible.

Many stores are now limiting their Inventory..it's just the way it is right now! The economy has effected all of us. Be prepared to "SPECIAL… Continue

Outdoor Wedding Inspiration

Spring is in the air. Ok..well, maybe not quite yet, but it's on my mind! Even if we can't actually smell the daisies quite yet, it's the perfect time to be planning your warmer weather wedding. I am not a big fan of winter, I much prefer the green grass between my toes with the big bright sun on my face. And, so, I've been dreaming of lovely outdoor wedding scenes like the ones below.

Firstly, hay. Now, I'm a Midwestern girl at heart and even I scoffed at the thought until I saw… Continue

Traditions and Ideas for Wedding Favors

For centuries, brides and grooms have given their guests wedding favors as a token of their appreciation. Today's modern couple has many options when it comes to these gifts, which range from simple edible items to extravagant and one-of-a-kind pieces. Wedding favors continue to be an important part of the marriage ceremony for both the newlyweds and their attendants.

We’re looking for makeup artists to sit on our “panel” of experts. We asked our brides to submit any questions they may have about their wedding day makeup and we are looking for makeup artists to weigh in and give their expert opinion.

All you need to do is complete a questionnaire, which is a compilation of the questions asked by our readers. We’ll post your answer along with a description of your business, contact info and a link to your website. This is a great opportunity to… Continue

A Tale Of Two Countries

Some things in life are just meant to be. It has been said that each one of us has a soul mate, the person god has made special for each and every one of us. Unfortunately, we don't particularly know when we will find this love, it just happens. You could meet the love of your life in a grocery store, in college, perhaps it might be a friend of a friend. All of our stories are different, and unique. Within the past few years I have been able to witness one union that is profound in the way that… Continue

Step Away from the Canon in D!

We've seen hundreds of brides walk the aisle to that famous wedding song Canon in D by Pachabel because a) that's what mom told her to do b) that was what was suggested by the "church lady" c) She never thought about doing something different. The truth is, tradition definately has its place, but your personality and style has its place too! There is no rule that you must walk down the aisle to a traditional song, even if you're getting married in a strict religious setting. Here are some great… Continue
