Trends are Fleeting

I was 12 when I discovered my parents' dirty little secret. After 22 years of marriage, they had forgotten the events of this once happy day and never realized just how dreadful their mistakes were. Initially I found it difficult to look in the eyes of people whom I have always respected and loved. At the tender, impressionable age of 12, I caught my first glimpses of my parents' wedding…

Brown Bag

I am a huge fan of recycling - people, paper and things! With the downturn in the economy more and more brides are looking to save money. The average cost of a wedding in 2010 is between $15,000 and $25,000. I got married on $5K. I am not sure it can be done these days but cutting costs doesn't have to mean cutting style! You can be resourceful, be responsible, AND be beautiful ...my mantra and my inspiration for today.…

David's Bridal $99 Sale

Beginning March 6th and going through March 22nd, David's Bridal is having their $99 sale. Now remember, insist on seeing the gowns that are on sale first. They will most likely try to get you distracted with another, more expensive gown first, after all they're in business to make money.

Also, remember to be creative and know that if a dress isn't exactly what you want it to be right off the rack, with a little creativity and your own unique touches, you can make it into something… Continue

Suiting the Men

Suiting the Men

When we decided to start thinking about what the men would wear, Chris immediately knew that he wanted everyone to buy a suit rather than spending almost as much to rent a tuxedo. So we went ahead and

bought groomsmen’s ties in Italy and decided to wait a while on the

suits. After getting back to Boston from Christmas vacation at our

families’ homes, we were watching TV when an ad came on for Jos. A

Bank, which mentioned their…

Sailing the Ocean Blue

My posts seem to have a common denominator these days and I think it's summer! Maybe its the last dregs of winter finally disappearing and the warm sunshine on my garden and the first signs of spring that have me so excited. I am ready to shed my wintery self and welcome a day at the beach.…

Modern Prep

When I was in high school, PREPPY was in. I mean pink polos, dock shoes, khaki, argyle, plaid, and a monogram on everything. I haven't thought about those days in years but a recent clip commerating the passing of John Hughes brought it all back. And you know what? I’m not ashamed to say it, I still know all the words to every single John Hughes movie and I STILL love that classic preppy look. I can not walk past a madras print, or a plaid without a pause and I still have a…

Vent: Advice to wedding vendors, from wedding vendor/client

Please watch what you type and how you type it, when dealing with

potential customers.

As some of you know I'm not only a client, I'm a travel agent. Without

notice I will switch hats from vendor to client, because I'm super

excited about my big day. :) I asked a question about color matching and

a vendor (an announcement/menu card company I think) responded with a

"you wanna do what" type of answer as if I'm an idiot. Not only was this

on the rude side… Continue
