There is nothing that can be compared to the excitement I had when organizing and preparing for my wedding day. That day I was to make my lifetime commitment to the relationship with my beloved person. For some individuals, wedding is just an event like any other. However, in my case, it was three special events in a day including the church ceremony, pre-wedding craze, and, finally, the official ceremony. I could hardly sleep the previous night. I was at my mother’s house when I heard my mobile phone ringing – it was my soon-to-be husband’s good night message. My bridesmaid and friends were already asleep, and memories were already filling my tired mind. My wedding is the most memorable event I can never forget.

I woke up at seven o’clock that beautiful morning. My bedroom door opened up being filled with bright light, and my mother entered my room smiling. Then, in a soft tone she said, “It is your wedding day." Excitement overwhelmed me. Although the previous night I did not have enough sleep, I woke up relaxed and feeling energized. I ate my breakfast with my mother and started preparing for the big day. I drove to a beauty parlor where I found my bridesmaid. My makeup artist did a wonderful job on me. I had my hair beautifully done, but at that point, I started being emotional when the hairdresser was putting my veil on. I realized that I was leaving my parents’ home for good.

I was very nervous in the dressing room being even not in a position to dress myself. My thumbs repeatedly fumbled. I felt like a child who was trying to dress herself for the first time. My mother helped me in my dressing.

I wanted my wedding to be the best thing that could happen to me. After thirty minutes, I was done, and a limousine arrived to take us to church. My dad and I rode by ourselves. The bridesmaids were to meet us at church. I was a bit nervous; however, my dad assured me that I looked more beautiful than before and that everything was going to turn out excellent. He often told me to take deep breaths.

When we arrived to the church, I saw that it was decorated with white roses everywhere. My future husband, bridesmaid, and friends had already arrived at the church on time. I held my dad tightly by my left arm holding a beautiful bouquet in my right hand as we walked along the aisle. This was a memorable moment. When we entered the church, everybody stood up. Immediately, I saw the bridegroom in his white linen jacket, a black and a white button up shirt looking handsome. My smile grew broader as I got lost in his busy eyes. The mass began and  progressed on well until the priest asked him whether he will take me forever, and his answer was yes “I do”. I did the same. Then, followed the romantic kisses of a newly wedded couple with congregation clapping and ululating.

After the mass was over, we proceeded to the reception where there was a six-tiered cake, with a paisley design decorated with swirls where we were to cut it immediately. Thereafter, people were served with different types of foods. The rest of the night was full of dances. The lyrics of the song “Lucky” by Marc Broussard spoke of our whole relationship. The night celebration was  happy and enjoying for my husband and me. Then, before leaving, we gave almost everyone a goodbye hug appreciating their attendance. When it was my time to hug my mother, tears flowed uncontrollably. She softly said, “Please do not leave yet stay with me”. This lightened up my mood, and we both stared at each other laughing. My wedding is the most memorable experience I have ever had.
