Considering all of your ring options for your wedding bands can be overwhelming. When choosing a ring that will fit perfectly with your engagement ring and can be worn every day for years, there are so many things for you to consider. Below are some popular ring options you can go for, or at the very least think about.

White Gold vs. Yellow Gold

There is no “better” option when it comes to choosing the metal of your wedding band. If you decide to go with gold, there’s either white gold or yellow gold to decide between. You can choose one or go for both. Many couples opt for two-tone bands, combining yellow gold with silver, white gold, or platinum as a compromise. Yellow gold is more cost-effective, but may not be as versatile in the future when you decide to stack your wedding bands together. It also offers a warm tone and may be easier on your budget when you’re considering purchasing both your engagement ring and your wedding band. White gold, on the other hand, is true white metal, much like platinum. It is generally a little bit more pricy than yellow gold, but many women prefer the look compared to yellow gold.

Platinum vs. White Gold

Platinum is a great choice because it will last a lifetime. You never have to polish a platinum ring or worry about accidentally bending it, so it will keep its shine and quality for years to come. If you decide to go with something such as white gold instead, or decide that platinum just isn’t in your budget, you can have your gold wedding bands plated with rhodium to give them the shiny white look of platinum if desired. Platinum is also hypoallergenic, which means it will be worn more often by many women.

White gold can lose its original color when exposed to chemicals like lotions, hand sanitizers, and perfumes. Some white gold rings are rhodium-plated to make them look like platinum, but these platings are only meant to last around 1-2 years.

Diamonds or No Diamonds

You can choose to have diamonds set in your rings or not. Diamonds go up in quality as they increase in size, so if you are looking for an affordable option with that "sparkle," consider having your diamond wedding bands be around 1/2 carat total.

If you want a more expensive look, opt for a band without diamonds from a jeweler, such as one like Mike Nekta New York, and then add diamonds to your engagement ring instead. This will be less pricy but still offer the same look.

Don't settle for just any old design if you are looking for a ring to wear on your wedding day. Different rings will suit different people- find the one that is best suited for you! Remember, this band should last forever, so take time to find it and make sure it’s the one for you.
