I'm so excited to be planning a truly vintage wedding - location is the bride's parents house (backyard), her dress is a v-neck lace and absolutely gorgeous! No bridesmaids or groomsmen - a truly simple affair.

I'd love to hear of any experiences surrounding a vintage wedding. Ideas and suggestions welcome! Wedding is July 31, 2010.

Petals,

I'm excited for you! Wow to be able to creative a theme that goes back in time, When I think of Vintage I Think of the Victorian era, Is this your theme? Lace, pearls, and teapots, silver settings polished, gloves and top hats,is what come to my mind. With a vibrant color pallet, Pinks,Purples,Whites, Edwardian Style Bridal Bouquets, and Candelabra Centerpieces. I hope that you will keep us up to date,as the planning progresses.. Would love to know how you executed the vision.

Mickey,

That is exactly my vision! We're debating back and forth right now between using vibrant colors as you mention, or sticking with a more natural vision of green and pink hydrangeas, etc. Lace is a huge theme in this wedding so far and really bright, shiny silver settings are on the list as well! This wedding is on a super strict budget, so I am loving the challenge of making this a glamorous vintage affair without spending off the charts :) I will surely keep you updated!

Hi Lindsay! The wedding is small, only about 60 people. So far the plan is to use white tablecloths with a lace overlay, which we're borrowing from family and friends since ther are only 7 tables. Place settings are going to be mason jars full of organic tea bags with a lid that has a label on top with names and table #'s. Centerpieces are going to be teacups full of natural flowers (tbd). We're still talking lighting etc. so I will let you know! The couple is doing DIY invitations since the boyfriend/fiance is super artsy. They are a picture of the two holding hands on the front with the invite details on the back.

I'd love to hear your ideas! What city and state are you getting married in? Maybe I know someone there that can help you brainstorm ideas!

Hey Lindsay!

I just planned a wedding in Fort Lauderdale!!!!! It is January 9th and is at Calvary Chapel and the reception is a brunch at Shula's on the beach. All the guests & myself are staying at Pier 66 (I think that's what it's called). What a small world!

Let me go through my contacts and I'll send you my favorites :) I'm out of town (in Indiana) at the moment so I'll write back this weekend!!!

ta ta for now ;)

I recently did a vintage wedding. The bride gathered old black and white photos of her and the grooms family, placed them in antiqued photo frames. We then set these at the entrance near the guest book at the reception. We searched flea markets for odd and ends place settings in greens and reds. Kept the flowers simple. Low centerpieces. Since she loved the 30's, we found a DJ to play that era musice during the cocktail and dinner hours.
Sounds AMAZING! We are going for simplicity as well - low centerpieces, mason jars, potentiall a white/green theme...so far it's been so fun to search and think of all things VINTAGE!!! :)
A lot of brides here have a more traditional, contemporary look to their weddings, which is totally fine. But I like that soft, vintage look, which is rare among most brides. I feel alone in planning this style of wedding, which is why I asked. If any body needs help to plan a wedding, they may use the wedding planner iPad app and make use of it.
