Hi,
I am styling a bridal shower in April and I need to get a lot of flowers.  I want to make big round balls of hot pink and white centerpieces to go in different size vases.  I'm "thinking" about trying to find a flower wholesaler instead of a local florist and I'm trying to keep cost down.  Anyone ever work with an online flower wholesaler? If so, which one do you like?

I've used a supplier in Miami, they are called Art Flowers. They were relatively inexpensive compared to others I checked.
Hi
Just a bit of info. I'm a floral designer in NYC and although I don't use online floral companies I'm sure they will be just fine. I can however, give you some direction on flowers to use for for large balls. Keep in mind that you don't have refrigeration it would be wise to use a hearty flower that can withstand heat and cold and use a flower that is EASY for you to create the "balls". You need to buy oasis flower balls - they come in many sizes so that's up to you, and usually can be purchased in any craft store. The easiest and heartiest flower to use will be a carnation. They will fall in nicely to create the ball for you and not give you technical problems. The spray rose is good but can begin to wilt if not refrigerated, so I would suggest the carnation. Another flower like the carnation are small button mums and they will work in nicely also. Also both the carnation and the button mums come in a variety of colors so that might help you with your color scheme. If not, you can always spray carnations to the color you want.

I hope this helps - you should post pics when you are done. Good luck.
floraabundance is by far the best in my experience. However, I would also check with your local wholesalers. Many of them will sell to the public at only a slightly higher price or they will simply charge you the tax on the purchase if you don't have a resale certificate with your state. I prefer to purchase from a local wholesaler as you can have more control over the flowers. If something isn't fresh I can immediately change it which is impossible to do with flowers that have been shipped.
I have had excellent service and products from Florabundance as well.
Please check out the flowers on my site www.freshrosepetals.com - we tend to get most of our customers looking for rose petals because of our name. But we have great prices and a great selection of quality fresh seasonal flowers and roses grown on our own farms in California. I would be happy to help you select the flowers that would make the most sense for you. Also, we offer discounts to wedding professionals.
Thanks,
DeeDee
