Hello Wedding Professionals,

Want free exposure for your wedding business?  Then, tell me your 2014 wedding predictions!

I'm preparing a blog post that will be published this month, which will be called: 2014 Wedding Predictions.  I'd love to hear your thoughts on what those predictions and trends will be.  I'll pick the 10 best (and most-likely-to-occur predictions).  Then, when I create the blog, I'll mention your business name.  I'll also link your prediction to your website or blog.  So, this is a great way for you to get a ton of free exposure for your business.  And here's a look at last year's predictions.

What should you do???

  1. Please share 1-2 wedding industry predictions below in this discussion thread.  Share your thoughts on color trends, fashion, decor, music, etiquette - you name it.  See an example below.
  2. Include 1-2 photos in your submission to increase your chances of getting picked.  If you do include a photo, please link it to the webpage where it was originally found or give credit to the photographer.
  3. Be sure to include your business name as well as a link to your website and/or blog.

Thanks in advance for your help.  I can't wait to see what you think will happen to weddings in the New Year!

Wedding Trend Predictions For 2014
1. Unusual wedding dance songs
Following on from growth in 2013 we predict that more couples in 2014 will choose an alternative first dance song, rather than the usual expected choices by the likes of Sinatra and Buble. By 'alternative' we don't mean off-the-wall or silly songs, but lyrically appropriate songs, usually ballads, by lesser known artists. Using an unusual first dance song adds a uniqueness to proceeds, adding a personal touch and a certain je ne sais quoi. Typical examples are One Day Like This by Elbow, Iris by the Goo Goo Girls or Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World by Isreal 'IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole.

2. Using 'live' versions for first dance songs in 2014

Live music is becoming increasingly popular and more artists are including 'live' versions on albums and indeed whole albums of 'live' songs from festivals, gigs and concerts. Usually an acoustic version of the song, it enables the couple to do a first dance that's a little bit different, despite using a well known song. It can also be a lovely way to add memories to the big day, for example, if the couple had got engaged at the festival where they saw the song being performed.

3. Wedding dance mash ups

Mash ups will be huge in 2014, as it's a great way to shock the reception and get the party started! A mash up is when the couple choose several different well known songs and edit them onto one track. Typically it will start with a romantic ballad, before breaking out into some funky beats and even some funny dance moves to put on a real show for the guests.

Yes! I love the mash ups.

And you're right, I've been hearing a lot more of these!

I think that hand painted wedding cakes will be popular in 2014.

Wow its too swanky. great creativity.

I love the hand painted idea.

Radiant Orchid will transcend from the runway to the wedding industry. Event designers will use accents of this color to add pop to classic white weddings.

The crystal is like a 3D image. It is much better for new trends. I think this color would be more suitable for ear rings.

Seems gorgeous for earrings. And I have been seeing more crystal lately!

I believe videography is going to be increasingly popular in 2014. For both engagement sessions and weddings. I believe couples will opt for hiring both a videographer AND photography OR a photographer that does both still pictures and video.

Also I hope and pray to see more "animation stations" as an extension to the traditional photobooth that was so popular in 2013!

I think photography will always be more popular than video.
