Things that you might want to consider....Since it is a holiday, your floral cost could be a little higher , if using fresh flowers. Also think about how it will impact potentail guests. Do they normally travel over that weekend to visit relatives, are they avid church goers? Just some things to think about, but if you like the date then go with what you want and what will make you happy. Good luck and if you have anymore questions please feel free to contact me.

I think it depends on your guests and if you are getting married in a church or at a venue. My birthday occasionally falls on the day before Easter and in my relgious family, I was never allowed to celebrate (because you give up things during Lent. I am not particularily religious and it wouldn't bother me. I agree with the previous post, that you might have some issues with vendors, guests and costs...it couldn't hurt to maybe choose the weekend after Easter or some other date that has meaning for you...Best Wishes...Sandy
Are you planning on marrying in a church? Some churches won't perform a wedding on Holy Saturday.

As far as the other practical implications:

o As a previous poster mentioned, your floral costs may be higher.

o Your guests' travel and hotel costs may be higher, as Easter is a holiday. (If the majority of your guests are local, then this obviously isn't as much of an issue.)

o Especially if your guests are particularly religious, it may be difficult for them to fit your wedding in on what's already a busy day of worship and preparation.

If you were my clients, then I'd advise you to change your date. Obviously if that's going to involve your losing vendor deposits, than you'll need to weigh that against convenience for you and for your guests.
Hi Jenna,
You are getting some great advice! I agree with everything I have read from the other members.

To me it doesn't sound as though that particular day has a strong meaning to the both of you. If that is true , and you have not placed non refundable deposits , I think you are very wise to consider changing the date for all of the previous given reasons.

If the date does have a significant meaning to you and you are unable to get refunds or change to another date , I would begin NOW informing your guests by save the date cards , calls , emails or all three. I would make note to them that it is Easter Weekend to remind them also. I would send as much information as possible concerning accommodations etc. for out of town guests.

I hope this extra view point is helpful and you will be able to make your decision as soon as possible .

The other thing to bear in mind is that Easter is a "Movable Feast"; its date varies each year, falling on the first Sunday after or on the first full moon, after the spring (vernal) Equinox.. This may not impact on your wedding, but it could effect your anniversary in some years; you could find your anniversary celebrations or travel plans falling right in the middle of the Holiest Christian celebration - a time of year when many businesses are closed, prices are high, economical accommodation is hard to find, and travel hard to arrange... and venues are very crowded!

I don't see why the day before Easter would be a bad day. You can get married, have your celebration and still attend church for easter that Sunday.
I think you should take in consideration for your guest and there religious belief and the cost of holiday pricing and probably make it for the weekend before or the weekend after. If you haven't ordered your invitations yet then you can change the date without worries. If you need invitations check out www.jessicascustominvitations.biz
thank you
