First Wedding Dance Lessons For Bride and Groom Mother Son Father Daughter by Alfred "Mr. Dance"

www.ywdance.com

Once upon a time, not too long ago, it was a couple´s "job" to pretty much just show up at the wedding their parents´ had planned out for them. These days, that isn´t the case at all. Couples are generally getting married at an older average age, involving themselves in every single detail of the wedding and subsequent party/reception, and spending their own money.

When it comes to planning their first dance, they usually want something fun, manageable, and attractive (i.e. to avoid the "Frankenstein Rock"!). What is often the case though, is that not only is one or both partners not a "dancer" but they also have very little experience actually dancing together.

Married couples have their entire lives together to learn how to dance; it takes time they can´t usually pack into their early courtship and pre-wedding planning. Many couples are looking for one thing: the confidence to accomplish the task of their first dance. If they take a lesson, they don´t want a long, drawn out program with an expensive price tag. A good class will demystify and simplify things so the couple knows what to do, when and how to move, and can relax and enjoy their happy day.

4 Things To Look For In Wedding Dance Instruction:

• You CAN do it! This should be the first lesson involved in any class. People move and can move expressively to music. Even if there is a challenge to work around, such as a physical handicap, dancing is inclusive. Anybody can do it.

• Be in sync with the instructor and each other. The first impression is vital! You should immediately get a feeling that they are capable of showing you how to comfortably accomplish this. Likewise, couples need to be in harmony with one another. Dancing is done together: if one partner is fighting it, the result will not be success.

• Experience matters. Weddings are as unique as the people who have them. A good dance school is going to be well versed in a variety of weddings like Indian weddings that take 3 days, Chinese weddings that involve changes of dress, same sex couples, bridal parties of all sizes, and individuals of all ability and skill level.

• Work with recorded music rather than a live band. Dancing to live music has many pitfalls to the inexperienced dancer: muscle memory is based on repetition and predictability with beats per minutes (bpm). Live music is usually hired for the guests, for the "wow" factor, but is not usually a good choice for the first dance.

When the dance is planned well, the couple is free to focus on one another. It feels like no one is watching and it´s just the two of them, dancing, smiling, and starting their new journey together. Their guests are having fun, socializing, enjoying the food…and hopefully no one is even noticing the myriad of details and mechanics that go on behind the scenes. If you are planning your own joyful occasion and are looking for quality instruction for your first dance as a couple, or as a relative of the principle couple (Mother/Son,Father/Daughter), in the Palm Beaches/Miami/Hollywood, Florida area, visit www.ywdance.com , or call 1-877-687-3262 or 305-861-9000

The “Dance Revolution”:

Shows like “Dancing With the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance”, plus a variety of dancing-themed movies, has brought formal dancing back into the spotlight of current trends. People enjoy watching happy people dancing and would like to be able to do it themselves. A wedding reception is the perfect opportunity for most to give it a try: a big party with a dance floor doesn’t present itself every… Continue
