The Fells is a historic estate and gardens located on Lake Sunapee in central New Hampshire that has upwards of 10,000 visitors each year. We are a unique wedding ceremony/reception venue and have always relied on referrals and word of mouth to attract clients. Since we are interested in increasing this line of business (from four to 8 events each season) we are considering a marketing/advertising strategy for 2010. We have looked into wedding shows, direct mail service, The Knot, which seems a bit expensive, Wed Alert, Google ads, as well as some other online sites in addition to local print advertising. We are most interested in knowing what has worked for other venues in somewhat rural areas.

Perhaps if you looked into getmarried.com I have just sign on with them, However, being that the site is related to the TV show, maybe, new brides could find us there! You could ask for Jessica Williams, her number is 1-877-848-0331,She is a super nice gal! Tell her Mickey Long from Stylish Affair's gave you the info. Budget is everything to me. So I took the plunge, and they have monthly billing. which is nice...
I have 2 more bridal shows in January. I am on facebook & other social media. So far most people say they find me on the internet. What are some great sites that really get you noticed without costing a fortune? Alaska is so isolated and spread out with a small population - it is important to be wise with the advertising dollars...
Social Media is so in right now and it is FREE, blogging and using key words related to your unique venue would be very helpful to raise google rankings, many brides are looking for different places now adays so having a great online presence is key. I have heard people have had no return on the Knot, but for photogs, not sure about venues,
