A little about yourself and what you have to offer this wedding community?
I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts. However, since 1997, became a permanent resident of Charlotte, North Carolina. I am also a 1993 graduate from Tennessee's Austin Peay State University and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations. I earned a professional wedding consultant certificate through Penn Foster career training in 2005. I have volunteered and participated in weddings and events planning for over 20 years. As a result, I gained a wealth of knowledge.

I started my own licensed company, Sanctuary Beginnings Wedding and Events Planners, part time in 2005 after completing my training with Penn Foster. I officially began booking in 2006. As the economy changed, I was laid off from a full time position in May 2009. I have now moved to work full time on my business to create my own stimulus package.

I am an inclusive and self-driven individual who has a passion for people, details, trends, organization, timeliness, creativity, unique styles, and strive for excellence in customer service. My primary goal is to provide results. I feel I am among the most talented in the industry.

I believe my achievements and successes are two-fold; first, a solid spiritual foundation. I believe all things are possible. Second, I come from a family of strong achievers. I have my aunt's persistence to defy odds. She had polio as a child and was told she would never walk. She beat the odds and later became known as the fastest runner in the world during the 1960s; and, a three times Olympic gold medalist. Her name - Wilma Rudolph.

Most importantly, I really enjoy being a resource to people; especially in seeing that dreams can come true. In the end, to see a happy face because of something I help make possible, completes a special part of me. This is my greatest reward. The wedding and event planning business has brought me to my full circle. For this, I am grateful.

Big Wedding, Small Budgets - Venue Ideas for Summer Weddings and Receptions

Here are just a few venue ideas for hosting a summer wedding and/or reception found in the June issue of "Brides Magazine." These ideas are great for hosting 150 people and will put you and your wallet in the mood to celebrate:

Campus Wedding (Average cost: $750): With students vacated and easy parking for your guests, a campus wedding is a great place for a summer wedding. However, think twice about an outdoor reception. The costs to purchase a tent,…

Creative Wedding Processionals

Most weddings processionals are normally traditional. You know, the usual; groomsmen line up at the front of the church, bridesmaids walk down the aisle...blah...blah...blah! Guests can become bored after seeing the same dress on seven bridemaids. Surprise your guest with a creative processional. Do something different.

At one of my recent weddings, I noticed a balcony in the sanctuary. So, before the bridal processional, I had the bride walk across the balcony with…
