Excellent question, as I am coordinating a bridal event, and run into the same situations. If time permits, I will wait a week before following up with a phone call simply asking if my voicemail or message was received, and if there are any questions that I might answer. If I do not receive a response from that follow up, I do move on. If time is of the essence, I will wait a day or two and then just move on.
