I did a wedding show this weekend where I offered what I think is a lovely a raffle prize. At the bottom of the entry form I had a space where I asked people for permission to contact them in the future. I'm wondering what some of you have found is the best way to follow up with potential brides and grooms. I feel uncomfortable calling to give them a big sell; so what sorts of things should I be saying. Do people respond better to a personal telephone call or an e-mail? What are peoples experiences with following up after a bridal show? Is it OK to use raffle entries as possible leads even if it isn't the person who won the prize? I am sure the follow-up is different depending on the service provided. I'm a wedding planner of both local and destination weddings.

I would follow up after the show with either an email or a nice thank you note - "thank you for taking the the time to visit with me during the show! If there is anything I can do to assist you in your wedding planning efforts, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to talking with you again! Best wishes!" This is a courtesy and lets them know you are genuinely interested in helping them where you can. It is not too pushy - like "car-salesman" pushy which is a turn-off for many people. Hope this helps!
