Hi, LED Up-Lighting comes in many different flavors. To DIYyou can get them set to one color but it gets kind of boring all night. The best look is the ability to set it through dinner to a color or two having them fade slowly from color to color every few minutes then when it come to the dancing portion of the night make them come alive with great interaction and movement having them snap from color to color and chase around the room this is very nice and keeps your reception hopping still keeping that elegant look. A few things to know if you want to do it yourself you will need several lights that can range from $200-$600 for each light for a light that can be set and have enough color to go up the wall in a room the ahs the lights slightly dimed, also you will need a power plug for each light if not you will need an extension cord with multi outlets to daisy chain them around the room. In addition you need special DMX cables to connect the lights to be able to be connected together. The cables need to be the right length to go from light to light. These cables cost about $15 for about 10 feet of cable and a bit more for a longer run, you need one cable per light and one to go to the controller if you are using one. If you dot use a controller some lights give you the ability to hook them all together set the switches in the right pattern and then all you need to do is change the first lights color and it will change all of the fooling lights this is called master slave mode. Then you need someone to control them all night to change colors or you can set and forget on a certain color. OK Now the Easy way Hire a professional Wedding Décor Lighting person or DJ that does Décor Lighting. You can expect to pay between $45-$95 per LED par can depending if it is a set and forget or full DMX or if special programming is needed like every other light changes color or some kind of a fancy display. It is probably best to get a DJ company that offers this as part of their lighting package or at least as an add-on you might be able to save a bit there. Go to Google look at some great "Wedding Décor lighting DJ" or you may add your state there to see them in action, maybe they can make your wedding amazing. I can tell you prices for full room up-lighting can go somewhere between $400-$4500 depending on your lighting needs. Also a great combo with up-lighting is gobo projection.
Thanks,
DJ Mikey Mike
