I have finished creating and printing out my wedding invitations.  I now must address all of the envelopes.

Does the bride/groom's address on the RSVP envelopes have to be handwritten?

Do the addresses on the invitations have to be handwritten?

How about the return addresses?

It is customary for guests’ name and addresses to be written on the envelopes in ink by hand. Fine calligraphy has an unmistakable beauty and most stationers work with several calligraphers who can help you choose a style that fits best. Since you made your own invitation, you'll have to decide how to address them in a way that best suits the style of your invitation.

What about printing matching labels or have a friend with excellent handwriting address them for you? Nothing HAS to be handwritten but it's definitely a nice touch. In my house, all handwritten mail gets opened first. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, Kelli!

I used a Renaissance style font on my invitations.  I can't afford to hire a calligrapher to do the envelopes.  I do have legible handwriting; however, it might look best to address them in the font I used on the invitations.  I think I will definitely do that with the RSVPs and the return addresses!
