I am a new wedding coordinator and I was wondering how you handle your businesses when you get your initial email inquiring for wedding coordination.  So far I have been emailing them back a glowing message including all of the services I could provide for the wedding.  Then set up a meeting and work on a contract during the meeting to include all of the services I will be providing.  I then give her that contract and await for her to sign and return it with a 3rd of the payment.  I feel like sometimes I am email her too much free information in the meantime with preferred vendors and advice and she may or maynot even sign a contract with me.  Any advice on how to clean up my routine?

After the first initial email, there should be a phone conversation to set-up an in person consulation - there you could bring the contract

I would say hold off on offering any vital information because there are those brides out there who are just shopping for information before they decide rather they will go the DIY way or hire a coordinator. I also offer the contract to the client during the first meeting letting them know that they can sign the contract but the deposit will be needed within 3 days of signing, or they run the risk of losing the date to another possible client. I have found doing this weed out the brides who are for real, from those who just want to pull free information from the professional.  I have been there done that feeling as if I am giving away to many good tips before securing the client and the event.

Good Luck

From the initial contact, I always try to set up an in-person meeting, either by return email or phone call.  That way you can more accurately describe the value you offer, explain how you work, and get a feel for the client to see if you are a good fit.
