Who to do you ultimately answer to?

Hi fellow wedding planners. This is always a struggle but who do we ultimately answer to, the bride or whoever is paying bill. For example, one of my brides keeps adding items to her contract but tells me not tell her mother who is paying for the bill.

Your thoughts?

That's a tricky situation as a general rule it's the person paying the bill - would the mother fire you if she found out?

I certainly do not want that too happen. I am going to be honest with the bride and tell her I am not comfortable adding items without her mother's approval.
