As a wedding planner what are your terms of payment? I've done mostly day of coordination and with that I charge 25% at booking and the remainder 30 days before the wedding. But with full planning I'm not sure what to do as I'll be doing a lot more work. Any suggestions? Thanks!

When I'm working on full planning, I ask for an initial payment to reserve the date (as wedding day coordination is part of my package) and get started on the planning, and then break down the balance over the remaining months so I have monthly income and they have convenient payments. The balance is due the day before their wedding.
I Melissa,

here in Italy I do 90% full planning service and I Charge 40% at booking and the balance due 60% 30 days before the wedding. My booking at 40% is because you work a lot of time also one year sometime before the wedding day. Sometimes the couple pay to me also the entire price at booking so they avoid to pay the balance due close to the main wedding expences.

Also in case the couple decide not have the wedding or service is not longer required two or three months before the wedding day I've got 100% of penalty on my booking deposit.

Thank you
fabrizio
Great and difficult issue, especially now in times of economic crisis.
My decision is to not reduce my fees because It is unprofessional, but there is created a problem. Customers expect that at this stage it is understandable that there will be discounts. I even noticed that some couples prefer to hire me in order to coordinate their wedding day, to save money, at least this is what they think.
In the regular season my fees for full wedding planning is 2500.00 euros and for the coordination of wedding day 1000.00 euros. Do you think that this is too much; a few; I would love some answers.
And Melissa if you ask 25% deposit, the hole amount is???
