A little about yourself and what you have to offer this wedding community?: I was born and raised in NY, and have always enjoyed the Fall season. We chose to have our wedding at the US Military Academy at West Point, the Officers Club. One of my best friends from growing up attended school there, and has sponsored us to have our special day there. Growing up I have always gone to Army football games, and love the whole campus environment. I have always loved the idea of a "destination wedding", but when it came to the logistics and planning of an island in the Caribbean, it just didnt work out. Having the wedding at West Point will be a destination as we are having a lot of family and friends travel for the occasion come from Ireland, England, California, and the mid-west. It will even be a destination for our friends from NYC, who want to enjoy themselves for the day without the bother of driving the hour back home that night.
After getting engaged, I was laid off from my job and my fiance's projects as a consultant have slowed down. We have had to plan and adjust our ideas and budgets accordingly, so I have been doing a lot of research on DIY (Do it Yourself) ideas! I would love to exchange ideas, and seek opinions on different budgeting techniques that others have found helpful in this tough economic time. I would love to still have the wedding of my dreams, and find a way to do so without spending the money associated with a "platinum" wedding.
