Green Living in Beautiful Wine Country

I love this time of the year. The bold summer heat has not yet started and the spring rains are dying down. Northern California is beautiful in May, especially in picturesque Sonoma County wine country. The vineyards are starting to grown again and the hillsides surrounding this area are handsomely covered in rows of grapevines. Birds are chirping and flowers are blooming. This really is an amazing place to live.

If I had to use one word to describe this season it would be green. So… Continue

The Sweet Smell of Success

We are located in the heart of wine country. There are farms everywhere and vineyards line the hilltops. Looking out our windows at work we can see wide grassy fields, tall oak trees and beautiful mountains in the background. It is a beautiful area to live but there are certain consequences that come with this beautiful territory.

Surrounding our building complex is a rather large dairy farm. A couple times a year when the season is right and the wind is blowing there will waft in… Continue

The Beautiful Ways to Incorporate Snowflakes Into Your Letterpress Wedding Invitation

Weddings in the Winter Months

I have never experienced a wedding in the snow. North of the San Francisco bay in wine country it doesn't snow very often (I mean every 10-15 years!). When it does, it's mostly just a thick layer of frost that melts by 9 am. However, I still have spent plenty of time in the snow. I have fond memories of going up to the mountains to snowboard and waking up to see snowflakes frozen on windows. There is something about those crisp, cold mornings that I find… Continue

What Is Your Wedding’s Carbon Footprint?

Everyone today seems to be talking about their carbon footprint. From the cars they drive to the foods they eat, measuring carbon emissions is a growing trend among Americans. Trying to watch our waste has become such a large concern, that I recently discovered a group that focuses on making their clients weddings 100% emission free.

Carbonfund is a nonprofit company that has a very easy calculator anyone can use to find out how many… Continue

Combining Letterpress, Thermographic and Digital Printing Methods: Wedding Invitations That Impress, and Still Save

Letterpress wedding invitations are a must have. You can actually feel and see the impression made into the paper, and you can choose from a wide range of paper, including organic, homemade and tree free.

When your guests receive a letterpressed invitation in the mail, it will feel more like a gift than an invitation. While letterpress offers a unique style, feel, depth and beauty that cannot be matched by other printing styles, it comes at an increased cost.

Large Weddings Made Small

I was at a wedding recently which was attended by 240 people. The reception hall was large and beautiful, and the music lasted all night. There were so many faces that looked completely unfamiliar and I could not stop thinking, “Do all these people really know the bride and groom?”

The first thing to do when planning your wedding guest list is to decide what venue you want and base your guest list on their capacity.

If space and expense is not an issue, then invite as many… Continue

Designing Invitation Enclosures for Multiple Wedding Events

Having multiple events connected with your wedding creates its own set of unique challenges. In addition to the ceremony, some couples have a rehearsal dinner, wedding brunch, sangeet or mendhi party, pre-wedding cocktail reception…the list is endless.

One of the challenges is how to present the event information clearly in your invitation. For example, we recently created a mendhi-inspired wedding invitation set for a destination wedding.

Not only were there three events… Continue
