Internet Woes

It is terrible when one's internet is down for the count. I am back up and running as a temporary fix and hope to be permanently fixed by tomorrow!

Two weddings this past weekend and countless linens to wash. Such is the life of our staff. Thank goodness for wonderful friends who share their wedding tidbits with me.

Here is another great video from Lance at Harding Videography. He sent this with the…

Wedding Cake

The month of May is almost gone! Where does time go? I know that our month here at Weddings in Iowa flew by since we had one event after another. Every event has been different since each bride and groom has their own personalities, style and goals to accomplish for their event. The colors have varied, the decor distinctly personal and dress has been from the simple to the more elaborate; but one thing has been constant - the dessert ---wedding cake.

We have seen all types and colors,… Continue

Planning made easy

Here are some wedding planning tips that can help make your day as perfect as possible.

1. Before diving into the planning process, take some time to think about how you would like the day to flow. What do you want to see? Smell? Hear? Taste?

2. Every detail counts when it comes to invitations. They set the entire tone for your day. They will let your guests know when, where, what, how and why. Choose carefully.

3. Remember that when it comes to your budget,… Continue

More than one wedding gown?

Did you know that over 5% of all brides nationwide now buy more than one wedding dress to wear at their event? 3% of those brides purchase 2 gowns and 2 % buy more. Are you in that percentage?

The reasons for buying more than one wedding dress vary. Many brides want to show off many styles of their personality, so they may opt for a more traditional style gown for the ceremony, but choose a modern look for their reception. Short or long, many brides simply just can't decide on which gown…

Photography details make a difference

I always love it when a photographer sends me pictures to post. I especailly adore the detail shots of intimate and special scenes that are not posed and caught in the passion of the moment. Carrie from Geno Photography does a great job capturing those pictures that make you sigh and smile. Her work is magical and I always look forward to sharing them with you. Here is some of her amazing work.

Photo Booths

Photo Booth's are so much fun for a wedding. It brings out the playfulness in your guests, especially when you have a box of props near by - feather boas, sunglasses, fedoras, faux moustache and google eyes. All of your guest receive a strip of pictures for their favor and you recieve a book of pictures for your memories. What can be better? How about a real deal?

Joe's Photo Booth is offering their…

Purple and Gold Weddings

I have been getting quite a few requests lately for purple and gold weddings. Once in awhile we mix in some greens and lavendar for a regal, opulent look. Observations

Due to the absent of blogs, you can tell that we are crazy busy. During these busy times, my staff and I get a chance to observe first hand what happens at events and weddings. It really does boggle our minds to see how some people act. It is a shame really. Here are some interesting observations that my staff have seen. Can you identitfy with some of these?

1. Baseball caps and cowboy hats are not okay to wear during the ceremony or reception unless okayed by the Bride and Groom. This… Continue

Great Photos

Great photos start with a great photographer - we all know that. But there are some things that we can help our photographer with as you get your bridal party together to snap those memories. These helpful hints come from Tracy Carolyn, a Denver-based wedding photographer.

1. Try natural light. Most indoor lighting adds a green or yellow tinge to the photo. For the most accurate representation of the fabric color, use natural sunlight. Try…

Bridal Trivia

Fun Bridal facts to stump your friends are always fun. Here are a few that I didn't know, so I am sure you will find them as interesting as I did. Have some of your own to share? I love hearing them!

  • The phrase, ""Often a bridesmaid, but never a bride," orgininates from a 1924 advertisement for Listerine. The Company created an ad campaign centered on the fear of bad breath in a social situation, the most popular being a commercial…

Iowa Photography

I love it when photographers share their pics with me. It lets me glance into other weddings that I don't attend. It also gives me a fresh perspective as I might see a wedding one way, but an artist may capture something that I missed entirely. That is why it is absolutely critical that you choose your photographer with a cautious, yet completely trusting spirit. You are relying on them to capture your day in true fashion.

The following pictures from…
