Rustic Weddings are Still All the Rage

Rustic (or as many websites and blogs are now calling it “rustic chic”) weddings are still all the rage, particularly if you’re having your big event in a part of the country where barns, farms or covered bridges are a plenty. The theme is a natural fit for couples who love the outdoors or simply want a unique wedding that is inspired by nature.

While the setting itself acts as a natural, rustic backdrop for the big day (think outdoor weddings in barns, meadows, backyards, wineries…

Renting a Party Tent: Will Your Location Make the Grade?

Whether it's your backyard, an open field or a designated event site there are some considerations to keep in mind if you're planning to set up a party tent.

Go High and Dry

The idea spot for a tent is on high, level ground. But that's not always available. You should, however, plan for the possibility of rain, especially in New Hampshire. Therefore, you should pick a location where rain will not collect. Check the site location after a rainstorm to…

Weddings in the News

We don’t get much press, so it’s always a special occasion when we do get a mention. New Hampshire Magazine BRIDE Fall/Winter 2010-2011 issue featured Meghan and Josh’s spectacular Wolfeboro wedding. Our tent was center stage for the amazing reception.

Don't Be Afraid to Take Your Fall Wedding Outside

New England foliage offers a beautiful backdrop for a fall wedding, but chilly temperatures cause many brides to discredit hosting their big day outdoors. We're letting brides know that is not the case. With side panels (consider clear panels so guest can enjoy the view) and appropriate tent heaters you and your guests will stay warm through the night.

Many rental companies offer heaters. Consider ones that have thermostats, so they won't just run forever and run out of gas early in… Continue

A Tent for Any Event

While the majority of our tented events are for weddings, we do get called upon for anniversary parties, graduations, festivals and birthday parties. This summer we tented our first bat mitzvah. Amy Piper, of Signature Events, did a spectacular job of transforming our tent into a plush night club setting for the young girl’s special… Continue

If You've Got a View - Flaunt It!

Using 10’ sidepoles is one of our favorite things to do when we set a tent in a spot with a beautiful view or when a lofty, more airy feel is desired. Just like being in a room with high ceilings, 10’ sides (versus the industry standard 7’ sides) add light to the inside of the tent and increase the view for guests under the tent, especially those seated or standing opposite the view.…

More Ideas for a Nature-Inspired Wedding

As an update to our August 2009 blog post about a trend toward rustic weddings, our partners at Luminous Designs show off two very unique approaches to incorporating nature into a tent setting. In this setting, tree branches were affixed to the center poles with tape and wire and artfully covered with twigs and craft paper. Golden flood lights were directed upward to illuminate the tent and cast long, gracious shadows along the tent ceiling.…

Five Tips for Planning a Tented Affair

  1. A long narrow tent can distance your guests from food tables, bars, dance floor, toasts and photo opportunities. Increasing the width of your tent to 50 or 60 feet can provide a more square layout and bring your guests closer to the activity.
  2. If you have a view or prefer a more open, airy feel in your tent, you might have 10' side poles installed, as opposed to the industry standard 7' sides.
  3. Linens can be expensive. Consider using full drop linens with a tablecloth…

Fabric Liners Bring Luxury to Tent Weddings

Brides who desire an extra dose of elegance or warmth for their tented event may opt for a fabric liner, if they can afford one. In addition to a softer look for tented events, liners effectively camouflage the tent’s less-attractive components.

The latest look for liners is smooth fabric, perfect for lighting and projection. We've found that taut liners that follow the lines of the tent are popular, with all-white being the most requested color, followed by cream.

Rustic Weddings Bring the Outdoors In

With all the concern about the economy and the environment, many people are rekindling a closer connection with nature and revisiting simpler ways for hosting their weddings and wedding receptions. People are looking for different and unusual places to be married. And although there is always a segment of the population that opts for lush and luxe, more brides are planning outdoor weddings in barns, meadows, backyards, wineries or city zoos.
