For those who want an elegant and refined wedding, a theme that is certainly appropriate is that of precious gems. In fact, the stones, with their multiple meanings and splendid colors, lend themselves very well to decorate everything: hall, holdings, tableau and bridal bouquet.
So today we will present some original ideas you can easily apply, or maybe you'll find the inspiration you were looking for!
Names of precious stones and their colors
If you want to organize a perfect gemstone-themed wedding, first you'll need to know the names of the main stones, so you can use them on the tableau, etc. Here is a summary list of the most beautiful and famous precious gems:
Black diamond: symbol of strength, hardness, perfection and beauty. In fact, the diamond ring indicates an eternal bond.
Amethyst (purple): symbolizes joy and brings happiness.
Ruby (red): it is considered the stone of the sun, which gives strength and vitality, but also passion.
Emerald (green): since ancient times it has been considered a symbol of wisdom and rebirth.
Topaz (purple, pink, gold): symbolizes wealth and justice.
Sapphire (blue): this stone has always been associated with serenity and peace, but also with spirituality.
Now that we know which precious stones to use, let's move on to the practical side: how to use them in the various elements of the wedding, starting from the invitations.
The most classic idea is to take normal invitations and stick on small colored rhinestones that reproduce the colors of the various gems you have chosen to use. But if you want more modern and original wedding invitations, you can even make them in shapes of various gems.
This might be a better idea, because you can make very nice stylized illustration of the gems. You can color the invitations in whichever color you want, but it is best to use original colors of gems to keep it accurate.
The wedding tables will obviously have the names of the precious stones you have chosen, but how can they be presented to guests in an original way?
The best way to do this is by creating gems with colored Plexiglas and hanging them on the ceiling or a tree. The result will be a spectacular cascade of precious stones, each of which will have given the name of the guest and his table. Otherwise you can opt for the table cards, or take a table and lean on as many cards as there are guests, each with the name of the person and his table. To present the table cards in an original way I suggest you either make many small gems that act as a cardboard holder, or place the gem that represents the table to which the guest is assigned above each leaflet.
The first idea is probably the most pleasing: make colored gems with paper and write the guest's name on it. But the second option is equally modern and original: to give the cards a shape that recalls that of the cuts of precious stones and decorate them with designs of small geometric gems. Or a simpler idea: use cork stoppers as a placeholder, but attach a rhinestone to it that recalls the precious stone of the table.
And now we come to my favorite part: the bride's bouquet with precious stones! Obviously for the wedding with this theme the perfect bouquet is a jewel bouquet that can come in various shapes and sizes.
You can also do a combination of precious gems and flowers, to make the bouquet even more interesting. You can mix and match the colors as you like, and it might be good to look at the healing properties of the gem, to attract as much luck as possible on that day.
And finally, let's talk about wedding cakes! If you could find a pastry chef or an expert cake designer, you could also decorate the cake with gems and precious stones of your liking. This is probably the easiest way to incorporate gems and precious stones into your wedding, because you can make an eye-catching cake with beautiful rainfall of precious gems.
Color-coordinate the gems with the cake topping and make sure you don’t go overboard with the gems. The less the better is always the option you should go for, especially if you wedding has a certain theme.
To make your wedding theme consistent, there should be precious stones and gems all around the wedding venue and all of that should be done in measure. You can throw small gemstones all around the wedding table, or make them into centerpieces for your wedding table.
This is one of the obvious solutions, but wedding rings can be made out of precious gems, not only diamonds. Choose a stone that perfectly describes your character and that represents everything you are, and make it into a wedding ring that you will wear forever.
Backdrops have become an essential part of every wedding, and they can be made out of your favorite crystals as well. Choose colorful versions or one sort of crystal for your wedding backdrop and combine it with flowers that go perfectly with the color of your gems.
This might be more difficult to pull off, but food in shape of small rocks and crystals is a great option for a crystal wedding. This goes especially for desserts, since they can be made in various colors and shapes these days.
Crystals can also be attached to your wedding dress, to make it even more sparkly and beautiful. Do everything with taste and don’t go overboard. For this special day, if the wedding dress is white, choose white diamonds to match them perfectly with your wedding dress.
To make your crystal wedding true to the theme, make your wedding aisle out of crystals and this will make the moment you walk down the aisle even more spectacular. If you are having a wedding where there are soft lights pointing to the aisle, then the crystals are going to look even more beautiful and so will you among them.
