6 Ways The Groom Can Surprise His Bride

When You Get Engaged, Why Should the Surprises End There?

The obvious answer is: they shouldn't. You've likely spent many hours - and dollars - impressing your bride-to-be since you met, and there is no reason to stop now. There are still plenty of years and romantic opportunities to be had together, so perhaps now is the time to pull out all the stops.

Brides of all stages love romantic or fun surprises. Whether you delight her with your efforts when you propose, on  the wedding day, or sometime after, surprises big or small are bound to make her feel special. They can also add a spark to your relationship that you can't get any other way.

But What to Do?

Whether you consider yourself a romantic or not, it can't hurt to have a few ideas in your pocket to get the creative juices flowing.

  • Record the proposal
A recording of your proposal is a great way to surprise your bride. If you can get the video on the sly, consider surprising her with it on your wedding day as part of the festivities. You could also have it included in your wedding video, or save it for your honeymoon. Watching her reaction to your proposal can become a romantic wedding day surprise and a meaningful anniversary tradition.
  • Custom rings
When you propose or slip the ring on her finger at the ceremony, a custom engagement ring or custom wedding ring offers a lasting way to remember the happiest time of her life. Many jewelers have designers who can create something significant for both of you. Your custom rings can include a unique setting, gem, or engraved message.
  • Breakfast in bed
As happy as the wedding day is, it can also be stressful. Consider arranging to have her favorite breakfast and maybe a romantic gift delivered to her that morning. She'll appreciate the planning and thoughtfulness.
  • Love letters
A simple love note can have significant meaning to your bride, especially on your wedding day. Get some special stationery, and have your note delivered before you see each other for the ceremony. Or, write several notes that the Maid of Honor can give her at different points of the day (waking up, getting dressed, leaving for the church, etc). She's sure to cherish these notes to read many times over the years.
  • A special dance
One trend that's catching on is for the groom and his friends to perform a special choreographed dance at the reception. Try using one of your bride's favorite songs, or one you like to belt out in the car together. It can be hammed up as much as you like - just be sure to get it on video.
  • A serenade
Whether it's your special song or one you wrote for her, you'll have your bride swooning over your performance. Even if you aren't much of a singer, she'll remember it forever. Your serenade can be carried out at your reception or wedding dinner, or in private during your honeymoon.
  • Write your own vows
Surprising your bride with your own meaningful vows is something any bride will appreciate. You don't need to be a poet or novelist - just tell her how you feel and she will cherish the moment forever.

No matter what surprises you plan for your bride, it's your thoughtfulness that lets her know how you feel. This is the happiest time in both your lives, and it should be as memorable and perfect as possible.
