There is no need to point out that you will want to remember every single second of your wedding for the rest of your life. In order to achieve that, you can choose to film the entire wedding, or take an insane amount of pictures, but even that will not be able to capture the entire day. Instead of focusing on the quantity of your wedding photos, why not focus on their quality, and try to capture unique and breathtaking photos, that will one day be able to transport you right back into those wondrous moments and help you relive the day.

If you are stuck for ideas, you can always consult your photographer. Keith Sullivan, the man behind Infokus will have plenty of ideas to share about the ways to make your own wedding photos special. Here are some of our ideas as well:

Pet central

If you are not sure how to incorporate your best furry friend in the wedding, you need not look further than the pictures. Taking a few snaps with your four legged friend will both make for very cute pictures, and for some amazing memories. Make sure you mind the dress though!

Go with the flow

Make sure you take plenty of photos without posing. While striking a pose is perfectly fine for some of your pictures, you need to make sure a lot of them are taken without a plan beforehand. Capturing the most genuine moments of the day will make for the best pictures after all. A tear, a smile, a hug, a stolen kiss and a bunch of hugs will all have you grinning years after the wedding. Have your photographer capture some pictures while you are getting ready, and have memories of the entire day.

Dance the night away

Images of people dancing can look magnificent and capture the atmosphere of the entire reception. Not to mention photos of the first dance, where the two of you will be taking your first dancing steps in marriage. Have your photographer at the ready, to capture all those unforgettable moments on the dance floor. You can even snap some yourself, and incorporate them in your wedding album.

Family fun

Make sure you include you families in the photos in more ways than the simple group portrait. Hold up pictures of your parents on their wedding days, or have everyone dress up in a special fashion. As long as all of you have fun while taking the pictures, and make sure you reflect who you are as a family, the snaps will come out excellent.

A city to yourself

If you live in a vibrant metropolis, make sure you take some photos incorporating the city itself. Go to your favorite haunts and take a few pictures there, and make sure you reflect some of the magic that is your very special city in the images. You don’t need to take pictures where everybody else does. You just need to make the shoot your own.

Hugs and kisses

Some people find kissing photos too tacky, but you can surely find a way to take them that will be neither tacky nor too demure. Consult with your photographer how to best showcase the love the two of you share without making it over the top and too much for the pictures. After all, the two of you can have a very special shoot, for your eyes only.

The wedding party

Finally, no wedding photo shoot will be complete without pictures of the bridal party and the groomsmen. As with the family photos, make sure you do something that is unique to you as friends or as a group. Don’t force people to pose in the same mundane images. Have fun together, and let the images capture how you are with each other.

Ultimately, how you decide to take you wedding pictures is up to you. Make sure you book a reliable photographer who shares your vision in time. At the height of the season, the best photographers are scooped up months in advance, so plan ahead, have a meeting on time, and share what you want your images to look like. Make sure you also listen to their ideas, and find a unique way to make your wedding day as memorable as it possibly can be.
