The Wedding Dress Project!

Wedding dresses are full of emotion and magic. When we put them on, we are transformed. When we take them off, we are still strongly attached
to the objects and the emotions they elicit. So strongly are we attached
to these dresses, that they may sit in our closets for years, even
decades, before receiving any attention at all after our special day has
passed. What if we could let our dresses go, knowing that the emotion
and magic associated with our dresses could live on, and be given to
others in the form of a new dress (we only wear them once!) or a
deconstructed object that would be both useful and meaningful.

Hey ladies! Pull your wedding dress from the back of the closet! The
Wedding Dress Project is a three phase process. And phase one involves
FUN!

1. TRANSFORMATION: If you have a wedding dress, put it on! Go somewhere it doesn't belong. Take a picture, or a video. For instance, one might want to go to the grocery store, and take a picture
of a 'bride' checking out tomatoes. This fun activity allows us to put
our dresses in a new context, and gives us one more fun memory in our
dresses before we let them go. Post your pics and the story of your fun
dress day on our page!

2. LET IT GO...imagine that your dress could have another life, as a useful, meaningful object for someone
else. Instead of letting your dress collect dust in the back of your
closet, donate it to us! And we will make good use of it!

3. FOR WHAT, YOU ASK?... UNALTERED dresses will be used to give to less
fortunate women who deserve to feel like a princess for a day, just like
you did on your special day. In addition, we can give dresses to
families of girls who are having quinceneras who cannot afford a
beautiful dress for their special day, and theater companies, who could
use amazing costumes! ALTERED dresses are dresses that will be
deconstructed to be made into new objects, like christening dresses,
quilts and separates to be sent to families here in the USA and out of
the country!

OF COURSE, the three step process is a choice, but we want your photos and
stories REGARDLESS! And we hope you'll go along for the ride with us!
