A Guide To Your Wedding Beauty Timeline

If your wedding is quickly approaching and you’ve got a to-do list as long as your arm, then you’ve probably not put much thought into the timeline of your beauty prep, other than having your hair and makeup sorted for the big day itself.

All brides want to look radiant on their wedding day and sadly, this can’t always be achieved with a glass of water and a slick of moisturiser on the morning of the big day. In order to avoid any last minute beauty fiascos and to achieve that beautiful glow, there are some guidelines as to when you should get your beauty prep started. Let’s take a look at a guide to your wedding beauty timeline.

6-12 Months Before

You might not even be thinking about your wedding beauty prep yet and don’t worry, you don’t need to be doing anything major at this point. Start by drinking plenty of water and ensuring you are hydrated - this is key if you want naturally, glowing skin on the day of your wedding without worrying about setting spray or primer! Trying to grow your hair for the perfect updo, or want elegant natural long nails? Consider taking a daily hair and nail vitamin to encourage your hair and nails to grow naturally and healthily.

Looking after your weight in preparation for your wedding is a choice and not a requirement, but if you’re looking to lose a few pounds or simply want to feel healthier on your big day, then now is the time to start thinking about some gentle exercise. Exercise is not only for weight management, it provides your body with plenty of endorphins (the feel good hormone) and is fantastic for busting stress and anxiety!

4 Months Before

If you want to make any big changes to your appearance, then now is the time to start considering these. For example, if you wanted to change your hair colour in time for your big day, now is when you should be visiting your hairdresser as, if you don’t like it, you still have time to make corrections. You should also start looking to book your hair and makeup trials and speak to different MUAs and hairdressers about looks you want for your wedding.

Looking for a dazzling smile you’re not afraid to show off? Book a consultation with a local cosmetic dental clinic to start discussing treatments such as teeth whitening, Invisalign or composite bonding.

4-6 Weeks Before

After months of keeping hydrated, looking after your hair, skin and nails, it’s time to step up the level of pampering in these final few weeks! Now is the time to start thinking about things such as eyebrow tinting and waxing to give your skin time to heal afterwards - remember, you should avoid applying makeup to freshly waxed skin for a few days, as it won’t adhere to the freshly waxed surface.

If you’re thinking about having things such as skin peels or exfoliating treatments, now is when you should be having them as, in the case of any adverse reactions, your skin can recover in time for your big day. Whilst you’ve been hydrating your body from the inside, you may also want to up your body moisturising routine to keep your skin super soft.

2 Weeks Before

Now is time for the bigger last minute preparations. Ensure your hair is looking shiny and feeling super soft for the day by booking a last-minute cut around 2 weeks before your wedding and carry out regular conditioning treatments. Finalise your beauty bits for the day, such as perfume, lipstick and setting spray, ensuring it’s stuff you have used before to avoid any reactions. Keep drinking plenty of water and applying moisturiser to keep your skin healthy and glowing!

The Week Of The Wedding!

It’s almost here! This week is for those final touch ups, such as getting any waxing done, having a fake tan and getting your nails done. Your emotions and stress levels are likely to be all over the place this week, so breakouts and spots are common during this time. If you do get a spot, don’t pick! Leave it well alone and let your makeup artist deal with it on the day of the wedding. It’s a busy week with last minute arrangements, but if you can, make time to get a massage or spa treatment with your soon to be husband or wife to take some time our and relax.

On the big day itself, try and get a good night’s sleep so that you’re not only feeling your best self, but to avoid any puffy under eyes. Enjoy a nice shower in the morning before the getting ready rush with some luxury shower gels and scents to make you feel amazing and be sure to follow any tips from your MUA or hairdresser.
