Accommodating Every Guest at Your Wedding

As far back as I can remember, my parents taught me to appreciate life and never take one day for granted. But sometimes I can’t stop myself from wishing I could jump ahead to 2013. That’s when I’m getting married in Capri, Italy and I honestly can’t wait to get out there (and get married of course!), to enjoy the land and celebrate with family and friends.

Today 2013 seems far off in the future, but time really flies. That’s why we’re starting the process of planning the wedding and different things out now. I want to share some of my thoughts with you to get some feedback and different ideas.

We have a big family and some close friends from all different backgrounds and we want to accommodate everyone and make sure everybody is comfortable and enjoying themselves.

Easy access

We are planning to inform friends our Capri plan soon because we understand it may be a stretch for some to make the trip. Traveling overseas can be very expensive depending on when you purchase your ticket and the season you choose to go in. If we give people our plans now they can put some money aside each month starting now so the ticket won’t be a big financial hit all at once. We are going to give a list of hotels too so our guests can stay together in a nice spot close to where the ceremony will be held.

On my side of the family I have a few older relatives that aren’t walking as good as they once were and a trip overseas may put some strain on them so we will have wheelchairs for them. The church we are getting married at is wheelchair accessible and we have handicap vans scouted out already to make sure it’s a smooth ride for all.

Another benefit of getting people the information early is it allows the people with no passports or visas plenty of time to get that handled so they can make the trip.

Scout it out

We have been checking out some wedding planners out in Capri via the web but even after we choose one and get things going we are going to take a trip out there to scope things out. Getting a visual and making sure things are the way we envisioned is better than arriving a few days before the wedding and realizing everything is wrong from the venue to the food.

And speaking of food, we plan on having a nice spread at the reception. We both have traveled a bit and have a diverse group of friends so we want to add a nice mix of foods.  Whether our guests are vegan or meat lovers, we want to offer something that everyone will enjoy eating.

Planning for any wedding takes time and preparation. A destination wedding is even more involved, but it is doable and worth the effort!
