Contouring and Our Favorite Products

I wanted to start out with this as our first how to blog. I feel it is the most important step and will also help you understand light . Contouring is like painting a  on your face! First take sometime to really understand the highlights and lowlights of your face.  Really focus on were light and shadows fall. If you have ever painted a picture (even badly back when you were little) you know to get the object to jump of the canvas you must follow the same contouring steps untilizing light and shadows.

Here is a great diagram  to show you what I am talking about!!!

So let's talk products!!!! Starting with concealors and contouring powders we love!

My favorite concealor is from a company called Three Custom Color Specialists.
Their concealor pallettes are so creamy, so blendable, and are the perfect pigments for contouring, hiding blemishes, or dark circles.

I always start creating my highlights and shadows with concealor  using  two shades darker to fill in the hollows of the cheek bones, sides of nose, temples, hairline , and under jaw. (see diagram above. I also use a concealor  one shade lighter to highlight cheek bone, under eye, center of nose, and center of forehead.

****trick for undereyes.... I take concealor and from the inside corner of eye draw a line straight down to the the start of your nostril then draw the line up to the outside of that same eye. Then I fill in that area with concealor. It creates a triangle which perfectly highlights and contours your face.! I will be doing a video on contouring and this tip really soon!

NOW....If that is too much work for you. I highly recommend  Kevin Aucoin's (rest in peace) Contouring powder. You can simple  you concealor under eyes, foundation, and use this powder to apply shadows! It's wonderful.

And that is the first step for contouring.....On my next blog post we will  from this point. I will talk more about foundations and application tricks!  This will be our  8 part blog series-   ALL ABOUT FACE! After that we will get wild and fun with eyes and lips!
