Your wedding could well be your biggest life-changing event so far and, who knows, maybe even of your whole life. That’s why it’s absolutely necessary for you to look and feel like never before. With so much planning involved around the event, it’s easy to get simply overwhelmed with it all. With this in mind, the one thing that really needs to be planned well-ahead of the big day is your makeup.

Unfortunately, there is no universal recipe for it. Not every style will suit you, nor is every style fashionable. So, what should you do? Well, how about taking a look at what’s currently hot (and what’s not) and choosing something that you’ll feel great with. Here are some of the latest trends in bridal makeup for you to consider.

Mental and other images

Don’t forget that there will be lots of photos taken and that you’ll probably feature in most of them. So, it’s not enough to rely on the amount of makeup you apply every day, but you need reinforcement. Whether it comes in a form of a foundation, highlighter, and a layer of blush thicker than usual or a touch of bronze eyeshadow and some false lashes, it doesn’t matter. Just make sure you don’t overdo it!

Neither gold, nor silver, but…

Bronze. One of the tones that never seem to go out of style when it comes to weddings provides a touch of natural finish, as well as an air of dignity and class. Copper and gold combinations can be used for the same effect and you can count on them to make your face glow and look very healthy, if applied over your cheekbones. For the maximal result, experiment with a glittery gilded eyeshadow or highlight in powder formulas.

The mirror of the soul

Not many things can play up your eyes for such a joyful event like smoked-out eyeshadow or a smudged liner. A smoky eye that works with the waterworks will help you if you get too emotional and shed a tear or two. Those feeling more adventurous with their wedding makeup might experiment with charcoal or gunmetal-grey shadows. If, on the other hand, you want to remain loyal to the traditional look with a cat-eye and red lip, at least consider bumping up the lashes or adding a cheekbone highlight for more glamour.

All that glitters is (not) gold

Though you might think that your wedding is the perfect moment to shine (literally), rest assured it doesn’t have to be the case if you don’t feel comfortable with it. Glamour and extravagance can also be achieved with a full-matte look, but make sure you apply your eyeshadow and liner. Also, the contour should be deeper if you want to maximize the effect. Finally, don’t forget to have blotting papers somewhere handy, unless you want to shine too much during taking photos.

Goddess for a day

You want to look angelic, not intimidating on your wedding day. Shimmery eyeshadow can go a long way in helping you with it and so can an iridescent highlighter. Tap the glow on the inner corners of your eyes, on your eyelids and on top of your Cupid’s bow. Still, if you want your eyes to be brighter, don’t forget to balance them out with semi-matte skin.

The most important thing to keep in mind, however, is that you want to feel comfortable while looking great at your wedding. So, don’t just follow every single trend (as if you could, to be honest), but choose those that work for you. After all, it’s your big day.
