Whether you are moving in with your significant other for the first time or you have already been living together for some time, it’s very possible that you’re going to need some new items for your home upon getting married. Your guests at your bridal shower and wedding will be happy to get a list of items that you have registered for because it saves them the time of wondering what you want and helps them know what to buy you.

Many brides like to put everything from wooden spoons to bedding sets on their bridal gift registry and, often times, find that they do not want or need many of the items that they registered for. To save you from the hassle of standing in the customer service line to return unwanted products, here is a list of items that you should have on your bridal gift registry.

In The Kitchen
Cutlery - Serrated tends to be the better option when selecting your knives because they are easier to sharpen when they start to get dull. Adding a block set of knives to your bridal gift registry may be a good idea because most of the knives that are necessary for cooking and eating are included.
China - If you enjoy dining on beautiful quality plates, then be sure to add china to your registry. If you plan on displaying your fine china when having guests over, make sure that you place enough pieces on your list (perhaps a minimum of eight sets). Sets usually include a dinner plate, salad plate, dessert plate, saucer and a teacup. Keep in mind that while china with gold or silver rims is beautiful, it’s not a good idea to place them in the dishwasher, as the color will eventually come off the china.
Everyday Plates - You can select from styles that come in sets or from styles that you buy per piece.
Cutlery - Silverware usually comes in sets of eight.
Large Serving Plates and Cutlery - You will need these items to serve food for yourselves at home, but they will also be a necessity when you have guests. Depending on how often you entertain and how many people you like to have over, select the number of serving products that you will need.
Electric Appliances - When selecting electric appliances start with the basics such as a toaster, blender and a food processor. While it may be fun to register for an espresso maker or a waffle maker, you should first ask yourself if you are going to use these items frequently or eventually put them in storage.
Pots and Pans - Your options are stainless steel and nonstick. Nonstick is great as long as you don’t scratch the inside of the pots and pan. Stainless steel is thought to be better for your health, but is hard to clean if you burn the food.

In The Dining Room

Tablecloths - A beautiful
tablecloth can add a touch of luxury to your dining room décor and set the theme of your décor. Add placemats and cloth napkins to take your décor a step further.

Crystal - It’s always nice to display a crystal bowl filled with fruit or a vase filled with flowers as a centerpiece in your dining room.

In The Bedroom

Duvet Set - It may be a good idea to choose two different duvet sets on your registry because you may want a lighter one for the warmer seasons and a heavier one for the colder seasons.
Sheets - Select three different colored sheets to go with your duvet bedding because it’s easy to get tired of looking at the same two all the time.

In The Bathroom
Cotton Towels – Add bath towels and guest towels of different colors and patterns to your registry.

Once you have added the basics to your bridal gift registry, you can add smaller, more specific items such as a salad bowl spinner. It’s a good idea to include expensive, as well as more reasonably priced products, to your registry because your guests will have different spending abilities and it’s best to have something for everyone on your list. Online registry is a good idea because your guests will be able to ship the gifts directly to you so there’s won’t be any schlepping back and forth. Congratulations on your wedding.
