When interviewing for a wedding planner, ask if they are certified and where they received their training.  Any wedding planner who is certified will have no problem providing this information to you.  Expert Planners are not only certified, but insured as well.  A certified planner knows how to manage their couples budget, needs, visions and vendors.  A certified planner has taken the time and investment in their career to establish not only their reputation, but their business.  Certified planners have spent a great length of time training to understand the needs of their clients and their visions to avoid costly mistakes.  Planner Wanna-be's tend to not know that your facility may need a candle permit, all vendors are required to have insurance, or what questions to ask vendors prior to recommending them to a couple, and they do not understand the avenues to do thorough checks for insurance and verifications of a vendors reputation.

BEFORE CONTRACTING A WEDDING PLANNER ALWAYS ASK FOR THEIR CERTIFICATION AND INSURANCE INFORMATION.
