Congratulations....I have been Manengaged?

Is nothing female sacred?

The notion of a man slipping a ring on his loved one’s finger may date back in legend to the Austrian Archduke Maximillian, who gave Mary of Burgundy a diamond ring to celebrate their forthcoming marriage in 1477, but it was only in the last century that the De Beers company made the gesture truly mainstream.

Is an engagement ring for a man just a trend?

Jeweler H Samuel claims to have almost sold out of its “Tioro”, which is a titanium-and-diamond ring with blue stripes around the band.

Does the concept seem to be a bit of a joke? "It makes a lot of sense,” says Dr Susan Speer, senior lecturer in psychology at Manchester University. “I think it’s a good thing - it evens things out. It’s certainly not a sign of emasculation. Why should it only be women who wear a symbol of their commitment?”
