December Wedding in the Ladies' Pavilion, Central Park

Katie and Reece brought their closest friends and family from Birmingham, England over to New York City for their wedding. They braved the New York City Winter temperatures and theirs was our final wedding of 2013, held on 30th December.

They met through friends when we were just seventeen years old, ten years ago. Then three years ago they got engaged in Disney's Magic Kingdom in Florida. A year later they bought their first home together and started planning their wedding. I asked them why getting married was important to them and Katie said “because it is says to the world we are best friends for life, we love each other and this is who we are.”

They agreed straight away that they wanted to get married abroad, and when they started to look at Central Park, they fell in love with the idea straight away. It felt right and they knew that was the location for them. Katie said “Central Park is a beautiful location in an exciting city.”

I asked them if they had had any concerns about getting married in Central Park or New York and Katie said “planning a wedding abroad was quite scary when you do not have the opportunity to check anything out first in person. Luckily, Claire was extremely helpful and we had nothing to worry about.”

Katie and Reece stayed New York for six days altogether. They stayed at the swanky Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue, a fantastic and rather famous hotel with a very central location.

The ceremony was held in the Ladies Pavilion, a personal favorite of mine and a beautiful location for pictures overlooking the Lake with that iconic skyline of the trees and buildings in the background.

Katie wore a tea length ivory dress and ivory fur jacket with glittery blue shoes which she had purchased back home in England. Reece wore a grey suit with a blue waistcoat and a navy cravat. There were twenty people in the wedding party altogether. They went on to Morton's Steak House on Fifth Avenue for a meal following their wedding. Katie said they provided a fantastic wedding reception dinner in a private room and she would definitely recommend them.

When I asked if they had any other thoughts on marrying in Central Park that would like to share, Katie said “it was the best decision we ever made! We would recommend it to anyone!” Thank you for sharing your special day with us, Katie, Reece and family.
