Did I pick the right venue? Who will walk me down the aisle? What date should I choose? What type of gown will look good on me? How many attendants can I ask? Who are the best vendors? How many guests will attend?

This is just a small list of questions that each couple thinks about when it is time to plan a wedding. I can not tell you that all decisions are good or bad. What each couple needs to do is to not get caught up and think logically. Normally, people do not go out and purchase a car without doing research, test driving it or knowing the price. If you stick to this logic in planning your wedding you will be on track financially and happy with your decisions. But if you stray because the color or the engine size this will be the most stressful experience ever.

The other issue with making good or bad decisions is comparing your big day to others. We get so excited about what others have but we need to be thankful for all we have. If you are paying for the wedding and there are no other financiers you can not compare yourself to the person whose parents are paying. Remember your venue suits you and if it is not the Waldorf Astoria the people who love you will not think less of you and your decision.

The last part of decision making is hiring the right vendors. Always remember professionals know their job and are more adapt to handling situations that may arise. This is the biggest party of your life and it should not be handled by amateurs. Photographs are something you can look at for years to come. Letting uncle Joe's thumb print in each picture be your lasting memory will not be entertaining. Picking your friend or co-worker to organize your wedding may not be too smart. If she or he is good at planning b-day parties does not make them a pro at handling this party. Having your cousin videotape your wedding may not be too smart if he is at the bar the whole night. All I can say is use the rational part of your brain to help you make the right decision, good or bad.
